I've been looking and I've already tried Twonky, works like a DREAM, but it's pay.

I looked at TVersity, and it's Windows only.

I used MediaTomb, and it.. I want to be able to stream.. not download. I was only able to download from it.

Any suggestions? I'll be running this off a sheevaPlug.

I tried this one at all. All I know about it is that article. Lifehacker usually reviews some pretty good stuff.

Do you mean media server as in the computer which you plug into your tv to watch all movies and tv shows and stuff?

If you mean ON that computer, try XBMC. http://xbmc.org/
If you mean hardware, try the Popcorn Hour.

Unfortunately, a sheevaplug is ARM and XBMC is x86 only. Besides, Twonky/TVersity are more like streaming services so it's completely unrelated.

One of the best DLNA servers is actually PS3 Media Server (although it'll work for many more devices, including many Philips/Sony TV's, xbox 360 and some other stuff). It's written in Java and uses your native FFMpeg and MPlayer libs. It can be found at http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/
But Mediatomb should just work fine if you use a DLNA compliant client?

The sheevaplug has no FPU. So media will be kind of hard, since it uses soft-floats.

For streaming you don't that much CPU power, just network connectivity?

True. I thought you were referring to using it for music encoding/decoding + streaming.

Sorry! I forgot all about this thread D:

@Bobarkinator && Wizzup: I'll take a look.
@Markus: I tried PS3MediaServer, but was kind of confused. I didn't have much time to look at it, so I'll take another look at it this weekend maybe :)

Thanks for the replies!
