so its been a long time and iv read up to see who got banned how...but hey lets get to the point:

i got 2 wifi cards. a pci and a usb

pci is wireless n and the usb is a/b/g i think

anyway this is what i need to know / my dilemma:

i got 1 pc connected to a cable modem. but i don't have a router for wifi.

can i somehow connect one of the cards to that pc and the other (usb probably) to the the other pc and make the pci card a router or something? orrrrrr if that's not possible could i have a remote desktop connection thru those cards so i can monitor and use the cable modem pc via my pc without being present at this pc????

if that makes sense....

by remote desktop connection i mean something similar to logmein if you guys know what that is..

thanks, chitin.
pardon the spelling.

very good info, I will probably end up having to use this some time in the future, thanks Boreas.

As Boreas said, adhoc would work. It is not your best bet though. I would suggest buying a WRT54GL router and making it into an access-point with dd-wrt firmware.

Problem with Adhoc being, it fails compared to a true AP.

It's good in a pinch however.
