My house has a creek/slough right beside it... I take canoe down it to a wooded island on which is the ultimate private paintball setup ever : ) We have tree forts and all sorts of cool natural cover... the only rule is your not allowed to swim... since its an island pretty much anything goes.

Meh, it all depends on what you're doing. I don't really need more than 3k psi because I barely use any pressure, so I rarely use an entire tank by the end of the day.

perhaps you should pay attention in physics :p the difference of mass in a paintball and metal ball is going to require the force applied to the metal ball to be greater than the force applied to a paintball to acheive any velocity that might be painfull :rolleyes:

You've probably made your own formula for this, heh.

My solenoid has a max of 300 psi, I believe, before it blows; anywhere from 180-300 fps; no idea; same; .68 calibre, and assuming the metal ball is the same size. Wouldn't tell you the radius, therefore I can't tell you the diameter either.

3) I assume a paintball is right around a few grams in weight?:confused:
4) Anything at 68 cal has a radius of 0.86 cm ;)
5) Therefore the weight of your little metal balls have a volume of 2.66 cm^3
6) If the balls were steel then they have a mass of about 21 grams
7) You're gun has (the metric form of 300 psi) .207 N/cm^2
8) thats applied over half the surface area of the sphere which is your metal ball
9) Surface area =9.29 cm^2
10) Newton's applied = 1.923 N
11) Acceleration under that force = 91.5 m/s/s
12) If you're gun's barel is about 1 foot then its .3 meters
13) That ball ends up moving 27.45 m/s or 90 or so fps

Now i went through all this for no reason but to do it... anyway here is my point: If you apply 300 psi to something light i's going to have the same momentum as something heavier with the same 300 psi applied because momentum = mass * velocity. (A.K.A. high mass low velocity = low mass high velocity) Therefore put in all the metal balls you want but they arn't going to be any more painfull than paintballs except that they are going to fall like the metal balls they are :D

Ben, you also have to take into consideration the bolt hitting the ball. Could have two effects on the ball.

Paintball guns don't work off of preasure? :confused: As in it's the bolt that hits the ball?:confused: If so you're going to get no where near 90 fps out of it because the force is only applied at the beginning not along the entire length of the barrel :p Then i can use an elastic collision formula ;) But, i thought it was the bold that was pushed backwards (because of the preasure) after a shot to load a new ball ;)

This is how it works basically(My gun is different from some).
You pull the tigger.. This opens the soleniod.. The soleniod pushes the hammer which opens a valve to let air up through the bolt and also pushes the bold foward. The the pressure bouces the hammer and bolt back into cocked position.

Technically it doesn't do to much, but it does push the ball some amount.
