Say I am White and my opponent is Black. Upon my first move, my opponent chooses the same position and keeps doing so until far into the game and we have exactly same number of pieces on board.
What would be an efficient way to overcome this as soon "strategy" as possible?
Thanks :)
so they basically copy you? just take out horse or castle and kill them like that if they keep on copy you.

E4,E5
D4,D5
E4xD5, E5xD4
Queen x D4, Queen x D5
Queen x Queen, <unable to copy>
This should work :D(if your opponent actually copies you...)

But wouldn't both these methods also mean the forfeit of your queen as-well? =S

How about you play them and see what happens?

The premise behind it is that you use your queen to take their queen. Sure, they could probably find a way to get your queen, but they can't copy you anymore if they don't have a queen left. If they are inexperienced enough to be simply copying you to beat you, you will likely be able to beat them after they become confused that you took their queen.

No go get a chess board and play them out.
For mine, even if they don't move their knight out of the way you go up a knight, have better development, control the center, threaten with the discovered check and (most importantly :p) they have no chance of copying you further.
