how to make my webcam take a picture, and save it automaticly

as the title says, i'm wondering how to do it :) what language should i do it in/ what already made software could i use thats free, also if it can be set up on a web server (such as what chatroulett does, as far as webcam api goes), that would be even better

I think it'd just depend on preference for the language. If you're on *nix i'd say bash/*insert other scripting language here*. Are you just wanting it to take a picture when a change in light occurs? Or just when you/a program tells it to? Also what model is your webcam?

On the BackTrack Forums there's a script for doing this in bash if you're interested. There's also one for Metasploit, but I don't think it has gone past the dev. svn yet.
