Me and my friend were going to learn Actionscript 3 to create some flash type of games and be able to put our idea's in our own game! So I wanted to know if there are some kind of good tutorials for people learning Actionscript 3 because currently we know nothing at all of it! Of course we used Google first and found tons of articles but I really want someones opinion on which one I should use because I nor my friend is good with judging things.

http://kirupa.com/, sometimes. They've got helpful people atleast.

This (http://www.actionscript.org/resources/articles/611/1/Getting-started-with-Actionscript-3/Page1.html) is the tutorial that got me started with 3.0. :)

This is what got me started http://www.tutvid.com/tutorials/ or if you don't have Quicktime http://www.youtube.com/user/tutvid (Not as good). If you're just doing AS though, it might be better to use Flex (http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/).

Isn't Java more complicated than Flash?
I got little experince with it but im learning, from what ive learned so far i can tell you its about the same, this is a few reasons why i prefer java instead of flash

:Its free
:It can acess files and dont got the other security restrictions.
:It run more smoothly than flash, flash did a attempt to re invent the wheel when they made it up, stole many ideas from java, java also got loads of more commands.
:Flash is mostly used for anoying popups.
:If you learn java you also know flash

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17409_01/javase/tutorial/index.html
Go trough these steps and you shoud have a bit overview of java ;)

Man I don't know why you are even comparing flash and Java. Yeah, it may SEEM like Flash "stole" many ideas from Java, but I bet if you did some research you'd find out that Java "stole" a lot of stuff from other languages too.

You can't compare Flash and Java, one is made for multimedia. And I bet you I can write code in Java that will run like shit, just like how I bet you can write code in Flash that will run like shit. Both are not compiled languages, so if you expect the performance that you would get from something like C then perhaps you should rethink what language you are using.

But yes, Flash is pretty gay. But I don't lie to myself when I program in something not flash and tell myself Flash is the crappiest crap in the world, because its not. The fact that you have stuff for graphic design in Flash should be proof enough that Flash is an orange and Java is an apple.

Well java is free and can do all the things flash can and more is that not a good enough reason why to prefer java?

also the man who made the program witch was officially best opensource ftp server software in 1996 told me he dont like flash(Maby there is a reason for that?), he is a expert on c++.
