So I've got this ancient pc. I'm running Linux mint off of a USB stick to try it out. I like it a lot, however. We don't have a wired connection in my house. Instead, we have 6 wireless routers. So I need to find a USB wireless card that is compatible with Linux/ndiswrapper. The only problem is...I haven't a damn clue what I'm looking for. I was hoping all you open source enthusiasts would help me convert over to Linux. I am looking for STABLE compatibility and a price under 40 dollars, the lower the better.

Most of those USB cards work fine.

If you find something here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=1247898601379365138&id=abcat0503007&type=category&usc=abcat0500000&cp=1&sp=%2Bbrand+skuid&nrp=34&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d3031 2d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%2311a~~cabcat05030 00%23%230%23%2356~~cabcat0503001%23%230%23%233y~~n cabcat0503007%23%230%23%23l&add_to_pkg=false&pagetype=listing) that is also here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007697%20600014288&IsNodeId=1&ShowDeactivatedMark=False) see what is said about it here (http://www.newegg.com/FeedBack/CustratingAllReview.aspx?DEPA=0&N=40000031&Order=0&Pagesize=&Page=1&Keywords=ubuntu).

Do keep the receipt and (carefully opened undamaged) box and cross your fingers, as you can't be sure what version/chipset is in there until you just give it a shot.

If your USB wireless adapter doesn't work out-of-the-box, you can try ndiswrapper and use the windows driver for that adapter.. it doesn't work for all cards but will for most.

I would suggest doing this. It can be a little bit difficult if you aren't familiar or confident with linux.
