We've had a router in our house for ages.
We just bought another one to improve the wireless signal in our house.
Is there any way to 'merge' the IP addresses they use?

Old router gives 172.16.8.# as IP address.
New router gives 198.168.2.# as IP address.

Also! They both have different SSIDs, is it possible for them to both have same SSID (I just want them both to be 'the same' as much as possible).

Also any general tips about what settings I should use on the new router?
(AirLink 675W)

Ask any additional questions for more information.

Nope, i use a netgear wireless access point for the same purpose, and searched endlessly for a way to do the same thing, and I couldnt find a solution.

I also have two wireless printers which the laptop cant seem to find unless I'm on the older routers network....
Also my Nintendo DSLite can't seem to connect to the new network!

E: Printer is working actually. But not ds! And I wish we could use same IPs

if you're ds isnt working, depending on teh error its giving you, try changing the security type on the router.

Wire the old/new router and try setting one of them up as some kind of bridge..

Got DS working, I think my dad got the printers working.
@Markus, explain more?

One router is hooked up downstairs like normal.

The upstairs router doesn't plug into a modem at all, but instead plugs into an ethernet hole in the wall (which leads to the downstairs router)

Bridge sounds nice if that's possible... hmm

well i have 2 linksys routers WRT-54G
best routers i have ever had period.

i have one plugged into the router, and the other setup as a bridge

it is so easy, you set the ssid and security type the same, then go into the one you want to use as a bridge then select bridge from the connection type

simple, easy and never had a problem
