Before posting or asking for help with errors in smart.scar, make sure you update your SMART plugin to the most recent version. This will be the version in the SRL OpenDev (search the forums). If in doubt, check the version number on your SMART window, I will usually have the most recent version of SMART stickied in the S.M.A.R.T. section in the forums.

Since it was a pain for me to find, heres the link:

Plugin is already in Simba plugin updater. Next time tell me about the update before committing it to srl-opendev?

E: Actually, if you broke the setup API, does that mean all SRL scripts will no longer work?

I'd like to ask a question about good / bad practice...

function SmartSetupKey //or a different name
//this would be the new function

function SmartSetupEx(param1, param2, param3) //... the way it used to be
begin
SmartSetupKey(param1, param2, param3, 's');
end;

Why would a wrapper be bad practice? (would it be bad practice?)
--> I guess in a way it wouldn't be as clean...

Well, there already is a wrapper method SmartSetupEx, which is called by SetupSRL. I didn't change SmartSetupEx or SetupSRL, so users/scripters won't even notice the change...

Nice grave dig, but to answer your question, the script you're using is outdated.

Again nice gravedig. This should be in its own help thread. What exactly is on your line 339 of simba.simba?

No one knows and I doubt anyone is going to do something about it. It's hard to explain and even harder to fix unless everyone uses the same charset/encoding when pushing stuff to SRL.

Just delete the line and re-write it manually.
