View Full Version : Question on applying for SRL Members nowadays

First, can I make my scripts in SCAR? I don't know Simba right now :P.
Second, do they have to be for Runescape? For example, if I made a complex game that showed my skill in scripting, but obviously wasn't for RS, could I apply with that? I understand I should show my skill with the SRL include, so I doubt the answer to this will be yes.
Third, if it has to be for Runescape, can I apply with an old script that no longer works, and that uses an older version of SRL?
I can't play Runescape via SCAR/Simba, so yeah :P. My computer is too slow, and I don't, honestly, have much interest in it anymore.
Thanks for your time!

1. You can make them in SCAR if you want to ;)
2. Usually has to be for RS, though if you can utilize the functions in a great way its possible
3. Has to work because we have to compile it to see if it runs. You can always throw it in saying "this is what I made in the past" to compare past-->present
4. Apply anyways, you've got nothing to lose. The worst is people say no :P

3: Oh no, I mean I would make my older script compile, since it wouldn't be THAT much changing, but I'm 99% sure it won't work in game anymore. But from what I remember, that's not a problem.
Back to 1: Sweet.
2: Damn, k.
4: True enough.

Use these:
For your game
DDTM's
DTMs
TPA's
ATPA's
Somehow failsafe your stuff
For a quick RS Bot:
Whip up a login/logout thing that does NOTHING and make it multiplayer
Submit a script thats 500-600+ lines, and you'd PROBABLY have my vote

Doesn't really have to be rs related. Just display your ability.

1. Definately, no one is forcing you to use simba :D
2. not to sure as it is meant to show your ability to use the srl include
3. if you made it, then why can you fix it up and update it to the latest srl?
overall i would probably vote yes anyway because i think your attitude is generally quite good towards the community

Weird how people would want to get SRL members with a script that's not meant for runescape, after all it IS "SRL Runescape Library," or am I mistaken?

if you don't have interest in RS, why do you want to be a member? That's generally kinda the point.

It's SRL Resource library.
@Dan - Sure the scripts are nice, but that's not all that comes with being an SRL Member. It's also a place to chat with people without everyone being able to see what you're saying, as well as the fact I'm pretty sure other stuff goes on in the SRL Members section that Junior Member don't have access to (ie. the color world-walker). I'm not so much interested in the coding anymore, as I am in looking at the code itself and trying to learn from it.
@Shut - My computer is too slow and I really don't want to port a 1.8k line script which is half uber-form over to Simba, quite honestly.

i never said that it had to be in simba, just in a way that it uses the proper SRL paramaters, SRL works in both simba and scar, so you can stick with scar, i have no problem with that, but i would prefer to see a compiling script than one which uses a version of srl from half a year ago that doesnt compile.

First, the script was actually created in February '09, so it's over a year old (xD, no relevance, just saying!).
Second, I WANT to update before I do apply, but I can't, for the life of me, get SCAR to download SRL/Reflection, and so have no way to make sure it compiles in today's SCAR.
