View Full Version : Memory Errors Crashing Computer

I have no idea why, but I cannot auto on my computer with certain, if not all, scripts.
When I start up MSI for example, I let it run for between 4-9 hours. I awake to a blue screen with the message memory dumping...or something of the like.
This happens at anytime between that period, and I don't know the cause. My computer has had memory errors before, but I don't know why it's crashing from running Simba/Smart.
I am running Windows 7 64bit version with 6 gig memory. If there's anything else needed, that'd be great, but I'm stuck for now and cannot auto for more than a few hours at a time.
This is probably not a Simba/Smart error, but I'm just checking to see if anyone had come across something like this before.
Have you tried turning SMART_DEBUGGING off?

How much memory you have in use when the crash happens? You probably have 1 2GB memory stick broken, so remove/replace that and you should be good to go. You could use a program like: MemTest (http://www.memtest.org/) or similar to test your memory.
My pick would be the middle memory stick. You could just remove it and see if that solves your problems.

Nah, not yet.

Hm, I'll try out that program, thanks. My memory is constantly rising using Simba, at 250k around 30 minutes ago, at 260k now.

Vouch for memtest. Its great. You should always run it when trying new ram.

And run it all night or until you find errors.

I assume you mean 250MB and 260MB. That's not a lot, given the fact you're running SMART/RS in the process. (And RS is just using some more resources, I doubt Simba is ``leaking'' memory)
Simba can't crash your Windows, by the way. Your memory is probably faulty.

Ya, I know it's not a lot, but it is just strange to see it frequently rise. I closed smart the other day and noticed in my processes Simba was at 960 mb, which I found strange, but still it should not be crashing my computer.
As for memtest, I ran it all night and it ran 12 times with no errors. So I assume the error is on my part now with something I'm doing.

Perhaps your installation is corrupted?

Okay, I'll go ahead and try a fresh install when 0.96 is officially released!

Ah, ok. I need a fresh format, and there is a very high chance this is true :)
Thanks for clearing that up.

Runescape really likes crashing computers. I quit playing a while ago because it managed to hard crash both Windows and OS X at my computer (and it didn't even run as admin, and at Linux it also didn't run that well). SMART works fine for me though..
