nope it doesn't the drive is 1T, I am pretty sure the max allowed format is like 32Gb through that or something :/

I just checked and SwissKnife does support Windows XP...

And my bad, you cannot format to FAT32 in by right clicking, you have to format using the command prompt to do it natively in windows.

when I try to install Swissknife I always get an error saying 'PartUtil.dll is missing' and I don't know where to find that :/

Hi, i would recommend you make a partition with your drive once you get some software that work, took me ages as well and cant remember what i used, it will mean you can still use the other half for normal stuff and just one half for PS3.

i dont think you will use a whole 1TB for it, i made mine 100GB but a bit bigger would be nicer and you need to use there folder structure to make it work correctly, i.e to watch movies and save game data

edit:

think i used this (http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html)

Yea the worst thing about that is windows XP doesn't let you format fat32 drives over 32GB

so using a program like above or this one (which I love)
http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html?tag=mncol%3bpop&cdlPid=10982635

works very well, formating from fat32 -> ntfs is easily done through command prompt without losing data

Yeah, You can do it but first take the backup of all your importan data from that.
Go to My computer -> Properties of Hard disk -> Format and change more from NTFS to FAT32 and Click on format.
If than also you are not able to format it than there are many softwares available by which you can change mode of your Hard disk.

Glad you got it working, I messed around for ages with my external drive before I got it working. I think you have to make 3 root folders, PICTURES VIDEO and something else for it to recognize it properly (??). Either way I don't use it anymore, I just use PS3 Media Server, but it does requires a wired connection if you want to stream video.
