Copy songs from my Ipod to computer.

I am getting a Ipod 4th gen soon, so I am selling my 32 gb before mac's summer ipod give away. I lost all my computer back up of my songs, and I want to back up all the songs to my computer or give it to my android phone. Is there any free program that I can use to do this? I need to copy about 150 songs.

I'm not sure if this works, but can you "Explore" your iPod when it shows in the devices menu? If so, you may be able to copy from there, not sure.

No, you won't be able to. That does not work with iPod touches/iPhones.

Edit: I'll assume your on Windows, so download PuTTY (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/%7Esgtatham/putty/download.html). Connect to your iPod and use root as user and alpine as password. Then navigate to /private/var/root/Media/iTunes_Control/Music. Your music should be in there in hella folders with random names. Copy them to your computer and there you go.

If you're on Linux just open a terminal and do


# ssh root@host
# cd /private/var/root/Media/iTunes_Control/Music
# cp -R * ~/Music (or whatever)

I did this once long ago, forgot the name of the program though, a google search showed a bunch of programs though, a lot seemed free too.

I tried a couple of program and I was able to get about 300 songs off. I got 150 left so am gonna try sex's method to get the rest.

I don't have it on itunes (the actual music section in itunes), I have it on the ipod You can't do that for iphone or ipod touches :(. Maybe Apple should realize they should allow this cause companies are making money off this...

This:

Download Diskaid.. go to var/mobile/Media/Itunes_Control and copy the Music folder.. Or, go to var/Mobile/Media and copy the Itunes_Control folder to the desktop.

To SSH, Use Winscp for Windows or CyberDuck for mac.
