Hello guys ^^.

Lately i've been changing a lot of parts on my computer, but i am also having a lot of trouble with my windows. Every 10-30 mins, the blue screen error appears(also known as "blue screen of death" :p).

This is happening after i've inserted my new graphic card, and i also updated my bios.

My new parts on my PC:

2 x DDR2 667mhz 1gb.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.
Nvidia Geforce 7900 GTX.
A new power supply. (Not sure about the model/name)
also a 250 GB sata hard disk (same).

My Motherboard: 775dual-vsta Asrock

also just a question, is it possible that the fault of all this is the bios itself? I mean after the update i did ?

Please help, Thanks .

As far as I know, the blue screen error means a ram error or harddrive error.. but seeing as you just inserted a hard drive + lots of other components, it is hard to narrow it down.. What I will say though is that, my cousin also had this problem and I had to re-install his operating system.. after that, the computer worked fine. Thing is he said he only got the error after installing the ask toolbar which corrupted the harddrive..

I believe you may also have a hard drive error but not related to toolbars.. just a change of harddrive and thats most likely why.

P.S. I hope you grounded off yourself while inserting the harddrive because if you didnt, you can corrupt it or damage it due to static electricity when you touch it.

Double triple and quadruple check that ALL of your drivers are up to date and for the proper OS and proper 32 or 54 bit.
Even try deleting/removing/uninstalling drivers and then updating them.

Also did you change Amy BIOS settings/overclock?

Also duh google the error code the blue screen tells you :)

I've already formated my pc, didn't work, also what exactly do you mean with the "P.S." part ?

Edit: i'm going to format it again, and see what happens.

The only thing I could see that he's on about, is remaking the MBR or something similar?
I don't know if that's even possible!

sorry having Internet problems =S extremely slow
erm find out what the blue screen says it's most likely a faulty/ corrupt harddrive or your motherboard.
try resetting your bios and yer if you've changed any settings like overclocking reset that also. i had this error on my old comp. it was down to a corrupt harddrive. if that doesnt work hold f8 down at startup. safemode - then try defragging
erm there are a couple more things how is your power supplied? is it through an extension lead or straight from the mains? if it is from an extension lead try changing or plug directly into the wall?
also try a hard reset?

Damn... I feel bad for you now.. not knowing what I meant.. could mean you didnt do it while installing and therefore shorted your harddrive leading to the blue screen..

Grounding off yourself: Most people don't realize that activities they do throughout the day makes them gain/lose charges.. when you gain/lose lots of charges, the electricity build up/energy build up is transferred to another object.. When this happens, if the other object is already charged (negatively), and you touch it, it discharges/releases the energy and sometimes you get a little zap.. aka static electricity shock.

Why you ground yourself off when touching any computer part is because that extremely small charge will transfer to the internal structures of the parts and screw it over badly!! aka shortcircuit. What happens when you touch a harddrive while charged and not grounded is that the energy built will transfer to it and thats probably why you got the blue screen..

how to discharge/ground off: Take off anything cotton/fabric (you dont have to be naked.. thats extreme.. just a top or something or wear something very light), sit on floor with the computer, grab a metal object.. place it on the floor.. put one finger/hand on it.. use the other hand to remove the harddrive and replace it.. if you need both hands, just make sure a part of you is touching the metal object and it's touching the floor.. now you can replace the hard drive with both hands and a screw driver or whatever you need.. but make sure that your touching the metal..

Hopefully if you didnt discharge, its not damaged.. I'd like to believe it isn't.

SideNote: Why the floor?? because most couches and chairs will charge you.. Yes they are fabricated.. even plastic chairs can charge you.. this is the reason when women/men wear jackets and sit in their car, and get out and touch the gas pump, it sparks and boom bye bye world.. Plastic can charge me wtf? yes.. sit on a plastic chair and move around aka rub ur ass all over it (with clothes on) and then take a very small paper ball and place it on the chair.. then point ur finger at it.. the ball will begin to jump around/move...

Source:
Getting the A+ certificate soon :) + screwed over 2 x 500gb hard-drives before while studying for it.. then read the fine print and was like wtf?!?

P.S. I'm sure you did plastic rod + fur in school no?

i guess i am not grounded off :p, i never got any "little zap" like you call it :p:redface:, i always turn my pc off first, remove the cable from the power supply, then start changing/touching things.

oh and eh... rep+ for the great read :p.

hmmm, i'll try, i've changed the power supply because of the 6-pin PCI-Express power cable, for the 7900GTX.

Wizzup?

Run a memtest? (Ubuntu LiveCD has those)

Can you tell the error given in the BSOD ?

grats

BSOD can be caused by nearly anything.. since you reformatted it sounds like a hardware error..

the message on the BSOD will give exactly what is happening

usually it is a ram problem though.

With computer parts its still possible that you don't notice the little zap. Cause the charge that is needed to kill a computer is very small. I usually just touch the heater and just operate my pc on a desk;).

I've done a few little 'tests' with CPU, Ram, and the Graphic card, i used "Video Card Stability Test" and "ORTHOS". they stress these parts on pc, i've stressed each of them for 1 hour, but no blue screen at all, but later after thinking about it, i've got into an idea what should have caused all this, and that is... Inserting 2 Hard disks at the same time, both had windows xp, that may have caused the problem. but anyways, i didn't format the hard disk yet, yeah yet, because i didn't get the error anymore, i'll test it a little bit more, and if it happens again, then i'll go for format (BTW, i also re-updated the bios, that might also have caused all this)... now i'm just going to wait.

so reupdating the bios fixed it?

Nope ^_^, i've formated my pc now... installing drivers, and such. Anyways, soon i will make that memtest that wizzup recommended, i've done that years ago, when my pc was freezing for no reason xD!

Edit: also i've realized that each time when the error appears, the errors are always different each time.

offtopic: sorry for the double post, firefox crashed at the time that i've pressed "Sumbit Reply", i didn't see that i've actually posted.

Problem Solved. Removed the rams, now working with 2 x ddr 512mb, maybe a bit slower, but no more errors :D!

Just wanted to say thank you for all the help guys.

Huh that's odd, good thing you found problem though!
ROFL @ RAM memories
RAM=Random Access Memory.
Funny because my teacher said RAM Memory once in class and a few friends and I lol'd hard.

hahahaha, funny eh, how things can turn out wrong , a lot of friends were around me, chilling... smoking some cigarettes, and stuff like that, wasn't really concentrated, that's why that happened i guess.. ^_^
