I noticed in my 'Scripts' folder, just this morning, that I now have ".jagex_cache_32" which contains a 'runescape' folder and inside of that two dlls (jaclib, jagmisc). I honestly don't remember this whole folder being here before. Does anyone else has it?

Until someone can confirm it's a part of SRL I'm going to put it somewhere else and rename the files to be safe.

That's the Jagex file, you can just delete it.

It happens. Those are the files runescape uses. It usually got it's own place somewhere on C, but when it can't make it there then it will make where the client is running from, I believe. In this case smart.
Correct me if I'm wrong. When you use signed the faster loading is because of those cache files. And I don't know what else they do :p. It's funny though that time to time a thread like this pops up.
"omg jagex folder near my scripts" thread I mean.

Yeah, they have nothing to do with SMART/SCAR/SRL/SIMBA, they are created by the runescape client.
When you play signed version, Jagex/Runescape saves some files onto your computer, these files remember you graphics settings/allow runescape to load faster once they are on your computer, they are 100% safe, most people have they in their C:\ folder, but I've also seen them on my desktop sometimes/the root folder of different bots I've used. They are 100% fine.

I already have the ".jagex_cache_32" on my C drive and it's 203mb. This new one in my Scripts folder is 193kb, not big enough for cache so it made me a little suspicious.

I thought it was an automated tracker Jagex makes to search your computer for a folder named 'Scripts/scripts' and record the location and send it back to them.

I have .jagex_cahce_32 and .file_store_32 in my C drive.
I also have another .jagex_cache_32 in my folder containing a Java bot, sot it's fine to have multiple in different locations. One is 1.23MB (C drive) while the one in the bot folder is only 60kb. All seems fine :]

Alrighty, well that makes me feel more secure. I'll leave it be then. Thank :)

This is natural. Leave the files alone.

these files remember you graphics settings
False, that is jagex_runescape_preferences.dat in your home folder (usually C:/Users/Username). The ones in .jagex_cache_32 are the cache files so it doesn't need to load the entire game every time from the Internet.

I think it happens when the file can't be read for some reason, usually when running more than 2 scripts...

What exactly do these files do? What information do they store?

"Hey there Andrew!

You know I was happily botting in your awful game(it's too boring, but you probably understand it) and I was asking myself: "What does those Jagex files exactly store?", because I don't want to get caught by your bot detection system - as you like to call it whether or not it's working - , but just to be sure I thought I ask you about those. So what do they store?

Thanks in advance,
Sabzi(also my in-game name)"

not really, that's not my in-game name if you wonder

Hey let's all report Sabzi. :stirthepot:

Everyone's seemed to suggest they're made in-line with where the game client is load, thus near the Smart directory would make sense. But what's odd, to me, is I already have the 'cache_32' on my C drive, this folder only contains 2 DLL's (which I already have), and it seemed to have created itself either today or maybe yesterday. It may be nothing, but to me it's just a bit... odd.

Ask andrew gower.

He doesn't even own runescape/jagex anymore, does he?
