Ohai there,
Well guys, i am looking for suggestions. I gave my old celeron to my small cousin, and he plays a lot of CS(counter strike), and i just don't know any good antivirus that won't freeze your PC from lagging, just looking for a non-lagy Antivir that does it job.
Btw, it has to be free :p
Operating System: Windows XP.

You can get AVG and just disable any scheduled scans.

This or install Comodo Firewall with anti-virus. Not sure how slow the computer is, the minimum specs for Comodo:
32-bit Windows 7 / Vista / XP SP2
128 MB RAM
250 MB hard disk space
Nothing too intense, so it shouldn't hinder the system much.
Comodo Anti-virus (http://www.comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=antivirus)
Comodo Firewall (http://www.comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=firewall)
Both are 100% free.

If I was an MS hater I would have lol'd at this, but I use both of those programs, so I agree.:p

I use a combination of Avira AntiVir and Spybot S&D. Hasn't let me down yet.

NO AVG. - after recent updates it makes admin management horrible and slows down the computer too much.
I too suggest avast < http://www.avast.com >, which also has a gaming mode.
The sound and whatnot is annoying when you first install it, but takes 3 seconds to change. Customizeable and has a built in sandbox for opening unknown software up.
E: I use spybot SD on my tower, but NOT my laptop because it slows down the computer soooo much more (especially if you use tea timer ).

What exactly do you mean by admin management?
I agree AVG has started to head downhill... That's why I'm currently testing out MSE and Comodo more extensively.

Avira. If you got money, Norton.

Anything but Norton & Mcafee. Waste of money IMHO.

MSE seems nice, but I'm a little unhappy about it removing some stuff without asking me first.

I have Norton 360, it's a great piece of software and has never let me down. Although money wasn't an issue when I bought it, so I guess I'm biased :p

What I mean is any sort of sudo windows stuff that you do, often AVG will overrule you... I have had this happen when I was working with game mods, in this case oblivion. AVG said "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" and gave me no choice in the matter. Also you can't close it while it's running, which sometimes I want the option of.
DONT DO NORTON. it's a trap.

Agree on Norton. If AVG was giving you problems with game mods (I know how that goes) just disable the resident shield from the control panel or add an exception to it. Then it won't bother you anymore, but I agree it is a bit of a pain that's it's all like, you can't do this.
