Hello,

I've been lately started using chrome. I like it really much.
The problem is I cannot run Runescape in it.
I've reinstalled Java and everything...
When I press "play runescape" it gives me black screen and nothing else. :(
Running win 7, 64 bit.
Any advice?

~Eerik.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a version of Java specifically for Chrome? Or did you get that one already?

i play runescape on chrome, and i didn't have to do anything fancy. i think i had to update my java but not a certain version etc, make sure you accept "allow jagex etc thing" could be something with your privacy settings.

I've never used chrome, does it have a built-in adblocker? Sounds to me like some sort of ad-blocking service is blocking the RS client from running

Java 6 or Java 7? I've heard that Java 7 breaks MANY things

I think it's just for the webkit engine itself since that is used by safari/chrome and pretty much made by apple.. they have used their own java type forever

@OP chrome doesn't pop up and allow java sometimes.. you have to get it to ask you if you want to allow runescape.com then it lets you.. that's what I had to do, the java stuff is installed auto

Yes, there is a java for Chrome, I dl-ed it - runescape itself asked it. After that it took me to the black screen. It is java 6 I believe. I have adblocker aswell, but it's turned off and still nothing, I can't even press the "accept Jagex" because nothing will pop up.
@ Grats, how should I do that?
Thank you all so far,
~Eerik.

I think you had the same problem I did. Try downloading the x86 version of Java too. Chrome only runs in 32-bit and since you are on x64 I'm sure your browser auto-detected and installed the x64 version... That's what I had to do anyway.

Another time it turned out my java had gotten broken by an update. I had to find a very special uninstall program to pure all the files out and re-install. Was a complete pain, but everything works again. I don't think you have to do that though.

Did that, still no result. First downloaded the Chrome java - nothing. Then the 32 bit java - nothing(it overwrote the chrome java though). Idk what to do...

Here's the result: http://www.upload.ee/image/1542290/Untitled.jpg

If you're going to play runescape, download the client from their website, you'll have no problems. Thats the best way since you wont use chrome which reduces the mem usage and no hassle.

I thought that the RS DL Client is just a cheap copy of Runescape in IE :P?

@ Wizz & Brak: I can't play on FF either, there it says that "click here to download java" and on that page it starts looking for my java and won't find anything saying: "Something is wrong, Java is not working."
@ KingKong - I want to play in browser sometimes.
@ Grats - Nope, I don't get that up there. Never did.
@ Shuttleu - I have Java there.

It used to be based on IE, but they changed it about 2-3 revisions ago.

This is ridiculous haha. I suppose you could try deleting the RS cache file on your computer? I don't remember where it is stored though... Also try loading it in an incognito window in Chrome. It will force it to start fresh. As for it not working in FF, that's a whole other mystery... I'll do some hunting on google and see what I can find.

I will now try to uninstall all javas and clear all caches. Let's see what's going to happen.

Yes Shut - did that aswell. STILL NO LUCK, I'm losing my hope.
Deleted everything - restarted - opened FF - "Click here to download additional plugins" - Installed Java nicely(correct version) - refreshed automatically webpage - Now keep saying: "It appears that you do not have Java installed, to play RuneScape for free please click here to download Java, or click here to get the RuneScape downloadable version.

If you have already installed the downloadable version, please look for the RS icon on your Windows desktop and double-click to play." :(
Btw - It's a 32 bit java.
Idk what to do anymore..
