Title.

My script won't find my DTMs I have to redo every time I rerun.

I used this tutorial: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=564 to teach myself, the interface has been updated slightly so its not quite the same, but its easy to figure it out. Also, if you click show matching DTMs, its in one of the menu items, itll show every spot on your RS client that matches to the DTM your making, its really helpful

Try to use the thin black pixel line around an item when you make the DTM's. Also, if choosing a colored point, you can increase the tolerance for that point using the DTM Editor tool.

There was actually a function that was used in MSI a while ago that pretty much did the same thing, I can't recall it's name. It counted the black pixels around an object, since for most objects it's a unique number.

Of course, that wouldn't work now with inv items and such having common graphical glitches.

BTW, I would concentrate you DTM points on the bottom-right hand side of an item, since that is less likely to be glitched out in the inventory.

I don't think its a "glitch" per-say, its an anti-color bot update I would imagine... Had it been a glitch it would have been fixed a while ago...

I think it's a graphical bug. Do you remember how inventory items a few weeks ago would differ in size? That was fixed, since it was a glitch.

I see no difference between that and this, since it doesn't actually stop us at all, and makes the game look crappy :p

We are in development of a system that will identify an item no matter what it morphs into ;)

Good point... I've never worked in game development, but I've worked in some "high profile" (aka get this fixed yesterday or your company is fired type) web design, and if we encountered a bug of that magnitude, it would have been fixed in a day, rather than going on what, 3 weeks?

But then again, it really doesn't effect us much and makes them look bad, so it must be a bug that is just a low priority.

if choosing a colored point, you can increase the tolerance for that point using the DTM Editor tool.

This.

In addition to using the black outline, pick other colors that seem to be at least mostly unique. Most of my minimap DTMs involve the yellow dots of bankers or other static NPCs, etc. Items usually have a relatively unique color on them somewhere, it's a matter of picking the right tolerance for that color.

Also the number of points you choose is significant. Too many points and it will take forever to search the screen for them all, too few will return too many false positives. Also be sure to reload the client or at least log to a diff world and recheck the DTM to make sure it's robust.
