View Full Version : These leechers are pissing me off. New subforum?
We seriously need a sub forum where people more than a set amount of days since they joined and a set amount of posts can view.
These guys are just using our scripts and giving nothing back in return.
I understand that we are an open source community but this is just ridiculous.
Excuse any bad grammar as i am on my Blackberry.

There is a thread/discussion going on about reinplementing Jr member/under Jr member restrictions like we used to have before. They aren't huge but helpful ones.
Yeah it's annoying sometimes but whatevas just don't help if you don't want to and let those with the patience to handle it help them.
We're fine as is but it is a bit annoying. Everone who enters should be able to access the public scripts I say.
Lol I love that quote cracked up when I first saw.

Most don't seem rude to me, just extremely lazy and expecting everything to work right away without reading or searching.

To be honest they should just learn to script. It really isn't that difficult once you learn the basic functions/procedures. It only takes like a week of reading through tutorials/practicing making simple scripts to get the hang of it, and it's much more rewarding than just leeching off of other people's work.

There's always going to be annoying people. Just hope the good outweighs the bad. They won't learn if they don't try.

There aren't any more leeches here than there used to be in other communities like rsbot, they just don't have the brains to figure it out themselves so they bother us instead ;)

THIS! Lol.. Honestly I don't mind answering their questions or helping them out as long as they help themselves a little. They're actually realizing that RSBot isn't coming back so they're all moving here..
I've actually seen a lot of comments on youtube and it's all about simba tbh.. some are scared to try it cuz they said "I n0 w4nT5 T0 G3T5 K3Y10g" and others are that they think colour won't work well with what they need..
If you guys didn't know, some of the threads around here at the bottom has like 11 guests reading at once lol..

I am trying to learn. I don't try to leech. Am I considered a leech? I would like to know how people see me.
i think we should wait a little longer before the subforum thing should be considered as it seems as if SRL is gathering many intelligent assets, blocking off this right would only be blocking off there capability

Well think about what a leech is. A leech (in nature) is a worthless blood-sucking maggot that takes from it's host but doesn't give anything back. Now apply that to this site. If all you do is use other people's scripts, complain about something not working, etc. Then you are a leech. If you help people who need help, are learning to script, have a script that is available to the community, etc. then you are not a leech (IMO).
I'm new also yet I don't consider myself a leecher since I have helped people fix their problems, and am workng on a fairly difficult script at the moment.

I actually started a poll on this is the Member's section, and most were in favor of the reinstatement of the Jr Member section.
And I love the talk about my quote in the first posts, that is what happens to me mentally when someone asks a stupid question.
The teletab scripts that recently got released to public prove this, personally I don't even use a single script on here, too busy learning to script and attempting to make my own. Like other people have previously said scripting is actually pretty easy to learn the basic functions/procedures and video guides like YoHo's help a lot with newcomers because most people don't want to read a wall of text to get started.
(I'm not a leech am I? D:)
On Topic:
Idk, i'm seeing ALOT more bots than a couple weeks back in the places such as Armored Zombies and Pest Control...

don't think implementing a sub forum for script will be a good idea. many people browse the scripts forum looking for scripts to learn from. if newcomes had no examples to look at, they might leave. get my drift?

There always is an option (http://villavu.com/forum/misc.php?do=donate):p
we should implement "auth code" for script and maybe requires every one to pm the owner to get a limited amount of auth code (maybe 1 for registered, 2 for jr and 3 for srl..etc) and they must provide a feed back or else they will not receive the next updated auth code.
Auth codes were ran thru the auth server which also hosted the scripts. I doubt that could be implemented into Simba without a server hosting the scripts and such to restrict access.
I vote that there should be a "Leech sub forum" and a Normal forum for people with at least 200+ posts and some type of activity level. The leech forum would just be something like(Or by the creation date of their account. Limit access due to post and creation)
General chat
General help
Scripts submitted by the "leechs" (Maybe a few others just to throw out there but most will be within the other forum)
Few other categories.

Auths would be great :D maybe a 5hr Trial of script then they have to maybe Send Proggy of what they have done the proggy would have algorithm to make each Proggy made different :D Dragon Dyce had this spammer and it had something similar :/

I don't see how there really is a problem. If you don't want to be leeched, don't post to the public. If you do, but don't want to help the leechers, don't. Someone else probably will eventually. If you take away the Public Scripts, how can people get started in this community?

Donated ;P and wouldn't mind if there was a VIP option kind of thing, people who contribute with scripts are exempt from it, but those who are computer illiterate like me would have to pay 3/5 dollars a month to access all scripts, you can keep some scripts public but those that would have a huge impact to the rs prices etc or affected by the number of people botting on same spot would be put in the VIP section. Just a thought

That will never happen here. This site never did and(I hope) never will profit from hidden but purchasable scripts. I am just informing you :).

Why would people donate to the developers of scripts, if they are not allowed to use any public scripts? The public section is needed. To get the good members to join, you have to prune out the bad ones.

I came here looking for scripts, I have used a herblore script one time. After using it, I found the tutorials section, and since then I have been on a quest to understand scripting well enough to not need other peoples scripts, but instead people need MY scripts.
I do ask a lot of questions though, and I am sure it gets annoying and for that I am sorry.
