View Full Version : Least CPU intensive way to look for colours?

Hi guys, just wondering what uses the least cpu with Simba.
DTM finding (including findDTMrotated)
Bitmap finding
Colour finding (I assume that this is the least intensive)
Colour finding with tolerance
Uptext checking
Anyone have any idea/opinion?

Color Finding/Color Finding with tolerance is like the same thing, you are always gonna need tolerance.
Also UpText checking is like a part of finding something, you should always check uptext.
I'd say Color/Tolerance for sure, but use ACA to be more accurate.
I think it's runescape that is most CPU intensive way more compared to any Simba code, are you trying to make a script less CPU intensive? Wucah scripting?! :D Secret?

lol I have no idea what Wucah scripting is :P, but yes my goal is to write less CPU intensive scripts. Any idea on how DTM finding compares to colour+uptext checking? Or any idea on how to find out? (just writing that I have a few ideas on how to check).
Another question, does calling Wait(100); kill CPU usage for 100 ms? or just allow it to catch up?
EDIT: thanks for the reply btw

Find out by using MarkTime and TimeFromMark (look them up).
Also, add a huge ass wait into a script and see if CPU usage change at all.
I think the difference between all the methods is honestly a few seconds/milliseconds (time wise) and CPU wise I bet it's not much either, I mean you aren't calling them rapidly over and over (TOO rapidly) just every time you gotta find/click something.
I think just loading/playing rs itself puts CPU ussage up.
BEST way to lower CPU usage is set it to LOW on runescape settings, and slide the FPS slider on SMART down.

Wow I just tried the slider thing with task manager open, went from 75% CPU to 30% from the mid level to the lowest running Narcles Fast Fighter, however, the script couldn't really run that well so I put it 3/4 of the way to the bottom.
I'm not sure what Narcle is using to find the rats (I'm assuming TPA's, I'll check in just a moment) but my CPU spikes whenever it goes to find another rat, like all the way to 90% (hovering at 60%-70% with it 3/4 to the bottom).
And thanks for the MarkTime and TimeFromMark, very handy.

I can confirm that would be getcolor

Hi guys, just wondering what uses the least cpu with Simba.
DTM finding (including findDTMrotated)dtm and bitmap would roughly be the same, whereas dtmrotated uses more cpu
Bitmap finding
Colour finding (I assume that this is the least intensive)yes, the least intensive, assuming you're doing findcolor with no tolerance.
Colour finding with tolerance
Uptext checking same as bitmap finding, but more intensive
Anyone have any idea/opinion?
Depending on the script, the best way to keep cpu usage down is co-ord clicking(with randomness ofc).

Yeah the fps slider is one of thr biggest helps for lowering CPU Ussage :) I keep it about 1 inch from bottom and most scripts still go great.

try making a script with only built in functions
