any help much appreciated I'm fairly new to this so I might be doing something completely wrong.

This happens when i try to run zmi the screen open and does nothing when it tries to type username it just stays blank would be very helpful.

You are most likely doing something wrong. Re-read all of Flight's OP, and follow ALL the directions.
