Hi guys, I'm new to simba. Post count would inform you of that lol
I'm reluctant to enter my username and password into the program at startup. You can tell me this is a legit site, and there's nothing to worry about all you want, but since I am new, I would like to refrain from this until I feel a little more comfortable, if possible. I'm not accusing anyone of being a hacker/scammer on here, so don't flame me for that because that's not what I'm doing.
I'm just asking if I am REQUIRED to enter my user/pass into the program to use the scripts, or if I can log in manually til I feel a little more comfortable :) and if I can log in manually, is there any specific instructions I need to remember.
Thanks for your help!

No you dont have to. You can make up fake ones. Just disable smart, log in manually, then enable it again. BTW itt is safe you have nothing to worry about.

Depending on the script, you should be fine by manually logging in before running the script, but really; There are NO scripts at villavu.com that will hack your account or anything of the like. All of the scripts are open-source and anyone who wants to can read through the code, and if someone tries to be a smartass, somebody will find out pretty fast and inform one of the moderators / admins. :)
Yes it is 100% safe :), I've been using simba for like a week now and never happend :p, and never will.

I completely understand your point of view...like everyone else said you can just disable SMART and type your user name and password and login and reenable it...enjoy

If you are scared that it isn't legit you can even use it with your browser, eliminating any need to enter your password into anything other than runescape.com

awesome :) thanks for the replies guys. i look forward to using some of the bots here! hopefully theres a gilded altar script around here somewhere...
As for scripts, we have plenty of script in public section and more in higher section (but you will need to earn it through learning).
This community focus on learning and paying respect:P not about paying money, which won't get you any where here in this forum. Its a very easy language to understand, if you can study for one or to classes, learning simba is much easier because we have SOOO Many examples in the tutorial island section.
Enjoy mate:P Back on the topic, I use to always script without username and password, cause its not really needed:P so yes you can run without user or pass, its all good and sexy.

It's a bit of an adjustment coming from the other forums where the community at large is generally pretty nasty towards one another and using a script to steal/grab passwords is just par for the course.
That doesn't fly here. This site is based on helping each other and anyone bringing the poor attitude/actions with them are quietly shown the door. It's amazing how much of that crap goes away when you take money out of the equation. This site is not about making money. It is about learning to script and doing so simply because it is fun to do so.
So enjoy your stay. Hope to see a script from you sometime down the road.

You have every right to be cautious of entering your info on a new program, wouldn't be? Everyone here will tell you the same thing, Simba itself is safe (and open-source), and all the scripts are also open-source so you're 100% invited to skim through the code yourself and check for anything that looks suspicious. Don't be afraid to question something that does throw up flags.

And if you really want to be cautious enable the Security extension. It will warn you if a script tries to "phone home".
Keep in mind this is normal behavior for some of the auto updating scripts. They are checking for a newer version of the script and not sending out any private details.
