So, here's my problem:

I have my desktop, and an XBox.

I want to connect both to my monitor, easily.

I have ~$100 to spend, and preferably want to go cheaper than more expensive. I was thinking that the best option is some form of a switch to swap between Audio and video sources for the monitor/speaker system. I don't need input switching for Mouse/Keyboard, just audio/video.

I have the first XBox 360, so I do not have an HDMI port. I have the silly component piece. There are many cables available for this, though. So its not a huge deal.

For my computer, I can only work through DVI or HDMI as my graphics card does not support VGA (not to mention quality on DVI is better).

What are my options?

Geh, no HDMI on XBox? Your not going to get anything cheap that I know of. I'd look for a component video to HDMI/DVI box. If you get anything that connects to computer (like video recording stuff) will most likely lag for game play.

I currently use a ASUS 24" that has speakers in it and a headset jack as well. Which works nice since HDMI has audio in it from XBox so I just hook the line out from monitor to line-in on computer. (The monitor has DVI, HDMI and VGA so I just use the switch on monitor to change from computer and XBox)

Anyways that sucks you have the really old XBox with no HDMI =/. Losing out on so much quality.

Actually, since I had to send back my Xbox due to the rings, I'm not sure if it has HDMI or not. I can't actually look either since its at home.

I was going to get a DVI switch or HDMI switch. Work work. :< Only issue is price.

My monitor has two 2 ports - D-SUB and DVI, and I'm connecting it with a HDMI to DVI cable to my PS3 and with a simple D-SUB cable to my old pc. The thing is - you didn't write about the ports in your monitor/tv.
