Ok I have done a fair bit of research on this and I still can't decide which is better to use for finding objects (such as range guild targets in my case) on the runescape surface.
Could someone with a greater knowledge tell me the pros and cons for each so I can work out which one is more appropiate to use. Thank you.

It also depends on the situation. Using a tpa like method will give you much more options and control than the FindObjectCustom function. Just don't forget to use enough fail safes.

I agree with the previous posts. Most of the time TPA is going to be much more efficient aka faster and less bot-like. If you ever have trouble with TPA, you can always try FindObjCustom etc.

Good Luck
