in a script which is quicker to find, a DTM or a Bitmap?
also are there other advantages of using one over the other?

Bitmaps you should avoid using as much as possible because they tend to cause lag. I have never used bitmaps, and probably never will. DTM's take the shape of things, and they only work for things that wouln't move, like if you move the compass on the main screen, the shape of the tree is different or something. DTM's are great for clicking things in bank, and in inventory. So I saw DTMs FTW! :p

dtms dont take shapes of something this is how dtms work:

you have a 'parent' point, this is the x,y that is returned, this point has a color, and a tolerance(some other options which arent that important) then you can add a few other points, also with a color and a tolerance, for example when you have three roads comming together, you can have the parent point in the middle, then have 3 other points on the roads, dtms are actually for things that arent exactly the same... even if you would turn the screen, it is still easy to find it with using find dtm rotated... bitmaps work somewhat the same, but with a lot more points, and not a diffrent tolerance for each point, you can in fact turn bitmaps, (open scar press f1 and read hehe)

cool thanks
well i am using it for (what is basically) a pack of cards which needs an option taken depending on what card is shown
i have scripted half of it in bitmaps and it is quite slow (up to 1 minute per card) and a huge script (1000 line halfway through for something which is just deteching a card and then saying yes or no)
more opinions always welcome

Bitmaps are better in my opinion, as long as you use small ones.
There are alot of advanced bitmap functions, which, IMO again, are alot better than the regular FindDTM.

cool
the only thing i will say though is it doesn't really matter to me about the number of functions as i only want to find it (normally)
thanks for your views and consider this when you and others post more opinions
