Hey hey guys.

I know I'm probably gonna appear as one of those one post newcomers who have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and well, I guess it's true, I'm not very good at this sort of thing. I've honestly been too scared too post on your forum because well, there's so much people know that I don't I'm scared I'll look like an idiot :/ It's great to be here though, and thanks to everyone for the hard work you're putting into this great community and amazing bot.

Recently I purchased a cheapish linux CentOS VPS in an attempt to see if I could get a bot going on it. Thing is, I didn't check if Simba had a Linux compatible version, and from what I can see, there isn't an official one.

Does anyone know a way I can get it to work? Or if there are any other bots that will work on Linux? I've heard there is a way with a program called "Wine," which opens the file under like a Windows compatibility mode, or I've heard there are unofficial Linux versions of the bot out there.

Can anyone help?

Yes i believe Wine is the emulator you need to run Simba on Linux systems. I know it works for Ubuntu so Wine for linux CentOS VPS should work. :D

Wine is not an emulator ;). It is a compatibility layer. Anyways, I thought there was official Linux binaries? MITB has nightlies (http://www.moparisthebest.com/jenkins/view/Simba/) that you can download. Never used it myself though.

I heard that the Linbins weren't the best, so either try your luck with them, or install WINE and install Windows Simba and Windows Java.

lol oops my bad apparently its a big thing calling it an 'emulator'
Found this onine...

"Wine is not just an emulator" is more accurate. Thinking of Wine as just an emulator is really forgetting about the other things it is. Wine's "emulator" is really just a binary loader that allows Windows applications to interface with the Wine API replacement.

About half a day worth of work, I got wine downloaded, installed, and a Simba bot open. Might make a guide about it sometime to try and contribute :)
