View Full Version : Minimum PC Specs for SCAR/SRl Scripts

Here is a general question for all SRL/SCAR users.
Have you oticed that at certain PC/ Locations/ and running various scripts....some PC's seem born to run certain scripts, and yet hate life and the universe when running others.
So, in thinking about the DTM's and bitmaps that some scripts call, and in comparison to the task that they place on the various components of a PC, what would be the benchmark system for SCAR/SRL/Runescape + One heavily loaded DTM or BMP script?
What do we all run?
Here is the report I am interested in:
1. what PC (or PC's) you ar running.
2. what SPECs' (OS, RAM, Processor, Vid Card, etc...)
3. what scripts.
4. BEST SCRIPT ON YOUR PC (run time, proggy, overall experience)
5. WORST EVER SCRIPT ON YOUR PC, (and why you think so.)
I was working on a script today on a few PC's and there was this one that just said FTW when i tried to rn the script on it, but the other two were oookiie-dookie. Just wondering.

Desktop:
-Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 (2.4 ghz stock)
-512 mb of ram (I know, I know...gettin 2 gigs asap)
-Nvidia 6600 gtx (or something like that...) w/256 mb of ram
-400gb hd (sata)
__
-:-Runs any script I want it to with ease; rarely does overnighters though, as I'd prefer to let my laptop do them.
-------
Laptop:
-AMD Turion 64 (I think it's clocked at 2ghz)
-1 gb of ram
-ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M (only has ~64 mb of dedicated ram, so it uses ~256 mb of system ram)
-80 gb hd (I'm assuming it's ata)
__
-:-Also runs anything I can throw at it; I'm also usually downloading a torrent as I macro. Been running nonstop for the past four days or so (L.A.M.E. by Tarajunky :p, upped 6 characters to 30+ mage)

I usually run allnighters on my laptop. If I'm not pulling an allnighter, that is ;)
If someone wants to tell me how to check all that fancy wording Smartz was using, I'd check and see what it all is on mine :p

:p I just know it all...built half of my pc's.....
But as you obviously didn't, just go to:
My Computer -> Control Panel -> System, and on the bottom of the page, it should say 'Computer:'. The stuff after that is what you're looking for
Of course, as that doesn't always say everything you want to know, you can go to:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Information, which will tell you virtually everything about your computer (you just gotta search around a bit for it)

Ah, thanks =)
Is it cheaper to build your PCs than to buy them?

Main computer:
500 Mhz :D
512 ram, 80 GB HDD, XP Pro. Lags on pretty much every script
Laptop:
800 Mhz Athlon 64 (according to dxdiag)
1GB ram, 120 GB HDD, XP pro
Pentti's miner/banker lags a lot while mining, so does Wizzup's VEM, but not as much though
Soon to be built computer for college:
E4300 OC'ed to ~2.3GHz
1GB Ram, 80GB Hdd, 7600GT 256MB, XP Pro
Should plow through everything easily
Jason2gs: Building a PC is about 1/3 the cost of buying one from a retail store. You can build those $1799 PCs you see in Best Buy for like $900-$1000

Hmm... Alright, I guess I'm not as much of a geek as I thought :p
I'll just attach a picture of what it says. I'm not sure what all you guys want ;)
Looks like it sucks compared to what you guys have :p
Scripts I've run overnight:
PowerSkills by Starblaster100
Goblin Sche. by WT - Fakawi
Any Tree PowerChopper by Fourscape
All worked great. I do remember waking up a few times and finding that Fours powerchopper screwed up, but that's script-wise.

Windows XP Home
P4 2.60GHz
1gig of ram
Radeon 9600 128mb
80gig HD.
--
Windows XP Home
1.7 GHz
512MB of ram
some shit 128mb card
60gig HD.

Both computers run about the same. Best script would be Wizzup?'s VEM or the Goblin Scheduler. And worst... well I dont run any scripts that lag me or are bad.

I hope you do realize that you just posted your full name, and xp registration number to everyone on the web....
Jason2gs
04-03-2007, 01:08 AM
Oh, I should probably get rid of that :p
Full name doesn't really matter. I don't mind telling people that, but what does the XP Registration number give anybody?

:p they could pretty much take your copy of xp...not like it's hard to find one out there on the web or anything, but still....
if you want, pm me the pic, and I could give you a 'literal' translation of your pc's specs....

Copy of, meaning they get something free, and I lose nothing? Sounds like a good deal.
Anyways, that would be greatly appreciated ;)
Edit: Sucks though, I guess I'm not as much of a geek as I thought

Wizzup?

800 Mhz 256 MB Ram for as a macro comp for me, it isn't super fast, so instead of mining iron with it, I mine copper and tin. (just an example)

1. Just my own. My mom has one running in the other room, a laptop, and my dad sometimes has his running, another laptop. I also use my own though.
2. XP Pro, 1GB OCZ Gold RAM, AMD 3800+ (2ghz) Dual Core, 7600 nVidia GS, 160GB 7200RPM Wst. Dgtl. HD- Built myself for $540. Extremely cheap!
3. I use Wizzup's Essence Miner mostly. I have some others saved on the comp.
4. Eh, I got like 700 ess with Wizzup's before :P
5. Pentti's Autofighter. Seriously, I put it by the cows, and it didn't kill a single one, it kept attacking ones that were already being attacked. So, I used it by the rats, (I was like lvl 4) and it didn't eat, even though I had everything set. So I just killed small rats :P But that worked. Other than that, I'd say that Any Place Miner. Either my SRL or SCAR is bad, or it didn't work. It would walk right past the mining place and miss the mining spot picture. Goblin Schedular doesn't work for me either. It kills a couple goblins and then logs out and switches players, or is it supposed to do that? :S =D
OT: Isn't #5 sorta degrading? Lol?

Too lazy to type it all up. So here's a pic!
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6484/computerspecsib0.png
As for scripts, I can run any script on it with no lag...As for my worst script ever run? Probably my own auto-typer, since it was horrible! :p

Not necessarily cheaper. A lot of times you can get a computer from Dell for cheaper than it would cost to buy all the parts separately and assemble it yourself.
5 years ago I would say it's definitely cheaper to build, but that is not always true anymore.
Of course, one large part of the cost associated with building a comp is buying the OS for it, which can run $100+ itself. Some people will download a pirated copy, but you get a legit copy along with the comp if you buy from Dell.
Again, this isn't for Dell's standard price. This is considering that you wait for a good deal from them, which pop up pretty regularly.

Main autoer:
E6300 @ 1.86 GHZ (stock), it has an OC protected mobo and bios
1GB Ram
GEFORCE 7650 GS (custom for my Medion computer)
Winshit XP MCE 2005
This one has two virtual machines (but I use 90% of the time only one):
VMWare Workstation 6 Beta (with VMWare tools)
256mb ram
A windows xp pro corp. stripped to the bones with Nlite (it only has FireFox, Java, Scar and 7-zip).
Old autopc (don't use it anymore, it has Linux now :D )
P4 2.0 GHZ
256MB ram
Geforce 4 460MX
Windows XP home
None of these PC had ever any lag. They auto flawlessly without any problems.

1gb of DDR ram
160gb harddrive (I had 25gb of free space and I cleaned my docs and recycle bin and I have 90gb of free space ;) )
GeForce 7900 with 256mb of GDDR (1 or 2)

Sorry to bump this up..But will this work well?
I have 1GB RAM, 3800+ Dual Core Processors, and 160GB HD.
If I download a VM, will this still all work? It would use Windows XP Professional. Does that take more? I don't have Windows 2000. Is there a way I could get a hold of it? How much RAM Should I put on for SCAR to work well and keep my computer at still good speed?
Thanks.
