I have installed visual studio 2010, which apparently requires that file. Went off and, again, i installed the vc redistributable, along with the other file Microsoft said would help. No avail.
Anyone know of a way around this?

You installed the vc 2010 redistributable, right? Did you try resetting your PC after the installation?

Well, you could possibly try reinstalling it. If it still doesn't work, just download the DLL and place it in your system32 directory. I've read on a few sites that other people had the same problem where they installed vc2010 but it didn't put the DLL inside system32.

I copied the dll to get smart working, but it didnt work. Smart started working later though, and im still not sure why.
The dll should still be there. Ill check
EDIT: I have like 8 different msvcr 100s =\
actually they look similar but the letters are slightly off o.O

How's that possible? You can only have one of them with the same name? lol
I would remove all of them and download the DLL again.

I don't know if I understand correctly, but if your looking for the file to use smart, it's the 'MSVCR711.dll' file and I think it goes under the windows folder.. computer > local disk c > Windows
That's what's solved my problems with that previous error. Hope this might help :s

Oh okay. Yeah those are all different from each other. Just remove the one that VC2010 says doesn't exist, then download it again and put it in there. If it still doesn't work, then I'm really not sure. :/

Its probably not your PC. I'm really not sure though. Hopefully someone else may be able to help you.

the PC is alot of trouble. Cant run anything that doesn't render its own 3d graphics, as my card doesn't support 3d graphics. Comp is like 8 years old or something. probably older. built for windows xp, running windows 7.
Woow an idea. Screw windows 7. Maybe it will work with windows xp o.O
Among other problems, doesn't allow me to run a virtual machine, and gives that error. Hating it lol.

Lol yeah, software rendering. The computer I'm on at the moment doesn't support OpenGL either, all 3d graphics are painfully slow.

Oh i can't run anything that doesnt render its own graphics. Opengl and directx are incompatible. I can't even run a nintendo64 64 emulator lol

I know what you meant. Let me revise my last post: your PC doesn't support hardware acceleration so you can only use software rendering.
This PC is the same way because the graphics card is so old.
