Hacked by Ghouler Script

Don't sit here and tell me I downloaded a virus etc.. I know damn well what happened. It also happened to someone else in the SAME thread using the SAME script. It JUST so happens that on the same day two people get their banks cleaned out after using a script.

I demand something gets done about this. My entire bank is gone. My money pouch is empty. I have NOTHING. It took me forever to get to where I was and because the people responsible for monitoring good and bad scripts let one go right by their noses I get hacked?

I'm a reasonable person. I'm not going to sit here and say I lost like 100m or anything. I had Full Bandos, Fury, Nez Helm, Regen Bracelet, Whip, D Scim, Full Mystic, Farseer Helm, Full Black D Hide with Archer Helm, Ranging Amulet, 2000 Adamant Bolts, About... 2k Law's, 1k Death, other runes I don't care about.. My money pouch had 4.5 mil in it.

I think all together that's around 40 mil that I just lost.

Please someone either refund what I lost because YOUR WEBSITE got me hacked or I'm doing something about it. I am sick of shit happening like this when it's supposed to be a TRUSTED bot.

The nice thing about open-source software is that you can't hide anything. I downloaded the script, noted that username and password are stored in Players[0], hit ctrl+f and found no instances in the script where position 0 in the Players array was accessed to send the username and password anywhere. You were not hacked by laakerules' script. You either have a RAT or keylogger, used a shady java bot previously, or have a really simple password.

Wanna know the be all end all of this? I only have Simba downloaded. NOTHING ELSE. I am a fucking 3rd year student at Ohio State University and I work with computers for a fucking living. I know what is a virus and what isn't. I know how to fucking prevent shit like that from happening to me. I don't download garbage like EpicBot or RSBot because I know they have a history of hacking people. But I fuckin stumble upon Simba who I've only heard good things about and this is what happens to me? I swear to god you guys are the biggest fucking dickheads of all time. It's 35 to 40 mil... Just fucking think for ONE SECOND that something may of gone wrong with SRL or his script. Maybe he updated it real fast to send him our info. Who knows. All I know is NOBODY in God's Green Earth knows I play Runescape. No friends, no family members. I only talk to ONE PERSON on RS and that's someone I met from here. No personal information was ever given to him for him to EVER THINK of knowing my password. I change it frequently too because every time I have to enter my password and user name into Simba I get nervous so I change it after I run a script.

Basically what this comes down to is I got hacked.... By your fucking people....... By your fucking website..... Do something about it. Just once? Even if you are so damn sure of yourselves that it wasn't your website. All the evidence is there.

Also most hackers doesn't hack until after a certain period. Especially if its organized hacking like epic bot, where they do there best to protect their source and extensively encourage people to store player's detail on their built in player manager.

I did look at the script. I didn't see anything this morning when I checked. But the SRL has automatic updates as does his script. Something could of been updated.

Unfortunately unless I can tap into some super human powers I can't get the IP address right now. I screen shotted it but I'm not sure what I did with it. I need a few minutes to find out.

Watch your language, there is no need for the swear words. I was cleaned for 700M because of my own mistake a few years ago. It happens.

AV doesn't detect RATs, so your AV log wouldn't do any good.

Also, his thread hasn't been updated in at least two months, so there goes your theory of him changing the code.

also, make sure u always have security.sex enabled. its an extension that tell u if ANY connections are being made outside of the script. for instance, if it wanted to send or retrieve information from a webpage, then it would ask for ur permission. having this on negates any possibility of a phishing script.

and like i said up above, if you dont trust simba, then go through the source code and compile it yourself. if you actually do that, you will learn to trust it.

Take the time to look at all the people on SRL that get hacked. The odds that two people using the same script (especially the ghouler, which THOUSANDS of people use) are alot greater than you might think. Everyone always blames Simba/SRL/Scripts right away, only to be disproved EVERY single time.

RAT's aren't detected by most anti-virus, especially the free ones. Malwarebytes included.

we want you to be rational. stop looking at POTENTIAL coincidences. i say this because u have absolutely no proof of the fact that it isnt a coincidence. we want you to look at the code; all of the code (simba/smart/script/everything else) and tell us if you see ANYWHERE where there is a keylogger/phishing excerpt. if you can show us that, then we will believe that u got hacked by it. but many of us have gone through the code, and haven't found anything fishy at all. that is solid proof that you could not have ever gotten hacked by this script nor client.

There was 5+ people hacked same day by using my INI files that I save data to for my 2 major scripts. It's basically automatic so once a vulnerability is found they know where to look. With tons more users on the site its not uncommon to happen.

I'm calm now. I just can't believe this happened to me. I change my passwords literally almost every day. I always update SRL, I always check for updates on scripts I use. I'm always checking on them every 30 min or so if I'm doing any assignments.

Well I'm sorry that I have a short temper and when someone is calling me a liar I get furious. I don't lie. I haven't lied about one thing in this thread. I have anger issues and when people confront me about stuff that I know isn't true and make acquisitions about me it gets under my skin. I felt like I had a decent amount of proof that I got hacked by that script but reading your replies got me to realize there is no way it was Simba/Laake(or whatever his name is)

When I saw myself and other person get hacked on the same day that was the only proof I needed. I didn't know it was common for things to happen like that.

So that's my bad for ACCUSING this website for my apparent fault somewhere.

I just honestly thought I was being the most careful I could be. I was kidding when I said I changed my password almost daily. lol

Java Drive-By

It happens to the best of us, the way to prevent these are by using "Noscript" from firefox or chrome. I prevent Java Drive-bys by making it so google chrome ASKS me EVERY time if I want to run Java. (I generally will ALWAYS say no provided I am not playing RS)

Teamviewer

If you use teamviewer or any other screen sharing software it is rather easy to go into the password files and steal your account information (That you put into scripts) Don't share screens unless 100% sure.

Why Simba won't/can't hack you.

Simba is an open source project, at any given moment you are allowed to view every single detail put into the actual client. You are also 100% able to turn off automatic updates, so you can view the change log prior to updating every time :).

Scripts

Generally if you see someone posting an excellent script (With lower than 10 posts, and is brand new) be a little weary, perhaps they are just a good programmer or they are looking to steal account information. What you want to do in this situation is either search the script for any "sending of name/password" or wait for someone else to check it Perhaps PM a SRL member to check the script. VERY RARELY does hacking happen like this

Protect yourself!

Turn on security.sex, this is like a firewall for simba and will prevent data from leaving (If you so choose)

I can assure you, if you purchase most advance anti virus out in the market. It will not prevent any simba script or any other bot's script from simply sending your password to another ftp server or just typing it out loud.


Please think twice in the future about using anti virus. I personally never used anti virus/fire wall since I was 15. Never got hacked, keylogged. and I spent quite amount of time across various runescape and botting related sites. Its not luck, its just what YOU do will have a effect on what HAPPENS to you.

No software can tell you that what you are downloading is malicious. Anti virus are like flue shots. They are meant for a general viruses..etc


You gotta be smart. Read the code before you use any script. And if you decide to use any closed source bots. Be smart about it and google info on it. And asking "Does XXX BOT Hacks?" usually will do nothing unless you show proof. So since you are 20 year old +, please use your own judgement.

Do you have the most up to date screen shot of your IP address logs? Mine randomly stopped updating after the 11th of May. I would post a screen shot but I don't want people to get my IP address.

Sounds like a RAT to me... Do you run java inside your browser? If so, there are 100's of ways in which you could have been infected.

Seriously there is enough evidence here proving that it wasn't the script, go through it and try to find anything that deals with Players[0] and if there is nothing besides the DeclarePlayers one then it has nothing to do with the script. You probably downloaded something that contained a RAT or you opened something malicious in your browser. If you were prompted by your browser to allow Java while doing something other than RS it was a drive by. But bottom line is it wasn't simba or the ghouler as I have used it for months and still have my bank.

Hard to tell your not a kid from the way your acting over a few pixels. You won't find the answer to what went wrong here as the hacking has nothing to do with Simba

You were hacked... at this point does it really matter why or how? Quitting Runescape isn't necessarily gonna help at this point either. There's no way of knowing whether or not this hacker is targeting other accounts. Ex. Paypal, Alertpay, etc etc. Safest bet is to backup what you can, and reformat.

I logged off and back on a few times to see if any other IP would show up but it hasn't. You should be fine. I changed my password too. I would advise you do the same thing right now.

And then back up the important files (not movies.., but musics yes )
and reinstall (and don't use the "restore service).

I use to had to reinstall every 2 week because I dropped my laptop and the hard drive has been shitty. Its not bad mate and takes like half an hour to reinstall and get back to normal.


EDIT: If you changed your password on your computer ( like you said you use to change it daily). Then its usless because since you are changing it on a compromised system. Just go to a buddy's house and do it there. And NEVER LOGIN until computer has be reformatted and reinstalled.

There was a thread in Sythe about people having the same thing happen. Just putting it out there. But I know how you feel.

Edit: The reason why it would have been Jagex was because no untradeables were removed, I had a charged DFS which was worth 16m at the time and it was left. If it were a hacker wouldn't they have just discharged it and taken it aswell?

Well my ranging amulet was still there. That's worth around 400k. If Jagex did it I'm sure they would of taken that too. I have no emails/messages from them at all.

I'm just going to take this as a warning to use bank pins from now on.

I am starting to suspect that Jagex may of done it as well. I botted my combat heavily with the Ghoul script. Almost 5 to 8 hours per day. Overnight every night. Maybe they just caught me. I posted on the official forums saying I got hacked and what they can tell me about it. Maybe I will get an answer to do with them doing it themselves. I am honestly hoping for that to be honest. It was at the GE with basically no items besides full rune. It did have a DFS in the bank. He never attempted to recover it afterwards. I changed all the questions/email/ etc.

I had Full Bandos, Fury, Nez Helm, Regen Bracelet, Whip, D Scim, Full Mystic, Farseer Helm, Full Black D Hide with Archer Helm, Ranging Amulet, 2000 Adamant Bolts, About... 2k Law's, 1k Death, other runes I don't care about.. My money pouch had 4.5 mil in it.

I think all together that's around 40 mil that I just lost.

Please someone either refund what I lost because YOUR WEBSITE got me hacked or I'm doing something about it. I am sick of shit happening like this when it's supposed to be a TRUSTED bot.

The only other option that I haven't mentioned yet is I think it may of been someone from a long time ago...

Back when I played exclusively in like 2005-2006 I had let a friend have my account. I didn't want to play anymore and I just let him have it. I lost contact with him over the years and got bored and decided to play one day again in like 2009-2010. I recovered my account and it seemed like it wasn't being used at all. It was at the GE with basically no items besides full rune. It did have a DFS in the bank. He never attempted to recover it afterwards. I changed all the questions/email/ etc.

Contact your "friend" to see if he did indeed recover your account and take your items. It's surprisingly easy to recover accounts when you know a few details about the person.

My friend forgot his password (pre e-mail) and couldn't recover his account, I managed to recover it for him though. I never thought there would be a time when it's useful to know what ISP my friend used :P

And for the people questioning my college education I could honestly care less. I'm taking computer drafting and graphic design. I know a good deal about computers but when it comes to coding/viruses/spyware etc it's just hit or miss. These advanced hidden / undetectable RAT'S and what not aren't my forte.

Wanna know the be all end all of this? I only have Simba downloaded. NOTHING ELSE. I am a fucking 3rd year student at Ohio State University and I work with computers for a fucking living. I know what is a virus and what isn't. I know how to fucking prevent shit like that from happening to me. I don't download garbage like EpicBot or RSBot because I know they have a history of hacking people. But I fuckin stumble upon Simba who I've only heard good things about and this is what happens to me? I swear to god you guys are the biggest fucking dickheads of all time. It's 35 to 40 mil... Just fucking think for ONE SECOND that something may of gone wrong with SRL or his script. Maybe he updated it real fast to send him our info. Who knows. All I know is NOBODY in God's Green Earth knows I play Runescape. No friends, no family members. I only talk to ONE PERSON on RS and that's someone I met from here. No personal information was ever given to him for him to EVER THINK of knowing my password. I change it frequently too because every time I have to enter my password and user name into Simba I get nervous so I change it after I run a script.

Basically what this comes down to is I got hacked.... By your fucking people....... By your fucking website..... Do something about it. Just once? Even if you are so damn sure of yourselves that it wasn't your website. All the evidence is there.

Only thing I can think of is that the files where in a area you don't have Admin rights for. Or, the reporting is messed up.

There is the other guy who got hacked using the script. It's not a coincidence that TWO people got hacked using the SAME SCRIPT in the SAME DAY. I used this script now for about a WEEK with no problems at all. Then I check my account to see what's going on and I'm cleaned? I check the forums and someone else lost their shit too?
