View Full Version : Suggested reading? for finding fallen traps

Hi

I am looking into hunter scripts, and would like some suggested reading matter on how to detect the traps. (noobish level)

I am familiar with dtms, and have used these successfully in a number of my own little scripts (including a jadinko tracker), and have also seen the simpler colour finding functions.

the issue i am having is differentiating between traps and trees in the area i want to hunt. the browns of the box trap are too similar to tree trunks etc. i can find the grey/black spot on the top of raised trap/side of fallen trap, but this is very angle dependant. (ie if the trap is fallen, the grey blob is to the left of the clickable bit of the trap, assuming compass angles constant)

DTMs work with the traps in a horizontal line, but if i space them out (to a pattern i would use if legiting) the change of perspective in the traps prevents me finding them.

Other than the existing hunter scripts, are there any public scripts with similar issues which i could look at? or any suggestions which functions i could read up on?

Long term goal is to add a certain specific summoning function to the hunter script, which i have working as a stand alone, for baiting purposes. (dont mention for what so it doesnt come up on forum search)

can i, for instance, look for multiple dtms if i create one for every angle? or is there a more elegant solution?

thanks in advance

edit: can maybe a mod move this to scripting help? Sorry

Post some screenshots, it makes it much easier to understand, you could make a million DTMs if you wanted and run through them all, but there may be a better way...

You should try using TPA/ATPAs for this. I think it would work considerably better than a DTM. Cazax has a great guide here (http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42428).

To deal with the trap, you could hover the mouse over it ocassionally and check the uptext to determine whether it's caught something. Or you could find it once, store the location, and stay hovered over it until it changes (incorporating random mouse movements for antiban, but returning to the stored point / re-finding it to hover over the trap again).

If the colors change a lot when the trap has fallen, you could use the MMToMS() function to find the MM dot of the trap and that will give you a box on the MS that you can search in for the trap. You could use a different set of colors for when the trap has fallen if you're having trouble finding a global set that works.

Hopefully that helps, and good luck :)
