Hey guys, not really sure where to post this.. it seemed to fit in here best, but i couldnt find the answer to this problem anywhere so I thought id ask the people who know a lot about this stuff :)

alright so I have this desktop computer with windows xp on it, its a few years old and I went to play RuneScape and I needed to update java, so I tried. but it came up with this error..

Downloaded File: C:\DOCUME~1\Jeremy\LOCALS~1\Temp\\fx-runtime.exe is corrupt

I tried to delete everything I could that involves Java (not sure if I got it all)
and everytime I try to install it it still comes up with the same error. I've run MalwareBytes and cleaned the C: and ive tried multiple registry scans and fixed them all, still nothing.

please shoot me some feedback because im kind of bummed I cant use it for anything involving RS.

sorry if this is the wrong section for this thread it seemed to fit best here... I apologize in advance
Thanks
-Jeremy

Try downloading java again, but instead of opening it directly from the browser click "Save". If that doesn't work, post back.
