I need help. And please don't ignore this thread.

I'm trying to install jre on my Ubuntu 10.04 VPS.

The problem is that it says when I start the windows offline .exe file through WINE: This machine does not have the recommended amount of memory to install this product.

And when I press OK it gives me "Installation failed. The wizard was interupted before Java(TM) [doesn't matter what version] could be completely installed."

The thing is that I tried installing anywhere from 6u31 to 7u5 and still it gives me the same message and the same problem still occurs.

It has 100GB HDD, 4GB RAM (which is obviously more than java requires to be installed - 68MB or 128MB)

I tried this with 32bit and 64bit OS, nothing.

And also if I try to install java manually through terminal with the code:
"sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-bin sun-java6-fonts"

it gives me an error that says:
"E: Package sun-java6-jre has no installation candidate."

But the point is that somewhere at the end of may, when I started using VPSs and Ubuntu for the first time (2GB RAM, Ubuntu 10.04 32bit) everything installed and worked flawlessly.
I moved to 4GB ram because I want to bot more accounts at the same time.

If It's something that i'm doing wrong then please tell me. If it's very complicated to fix this issue I'm ready for help through team viewer.

Maybe I have to downgrade or upgrade my ubuntu to other versions (like 9 or 11)? But I doubt that's the case, cause it worked earlier.

I have read Java help and all it says that uninstall and reinstall java, but the point is that I this whole problem occurs on clean VPS. (I tried reinstalling OS several times.)

It was many issues like this that pulled me away from Ubuntu and Lubuntu and drove me back to windows :( Sorry to hear you're having problems mate. My suggestion would be to try updating to Ubuntu 11.0, who knows maybe they got a fix out :)
