Hey dudes,

Just looking for a new laptop for the next year of school, I've taken a look around and I see that ACER has some decent ultrabooks, (i5 [or is it i7] @ 1.7 GHz). My main question is, will I really notice the 1.7 Ghz processor being a significant drag on my browsing/research/microsoft officing?

My price range is about $800. Just looking for any opinions on a regular comp vs ultrabooks. (Also trying to keep my backpack weight down as I will be longboarding/skytraining/bussing everywhere).

OPINIONS ARE WELCOME, YES PLEASE POST DON'T JUST BROWSE BY.

In my opinion Ultrabooks aren't really worth it... You want something practical rather than brand/looks. Especially if your doing sports. Go for something chunky :)

Was this the acer you were looking at?

If you are concerned about the processor I'd look towards something like:

(no ssd+hhd like the first link, but still decent afaik)

It's fun to look up this stuffs :>

Thanks Le Jingle, that was the exact computer I was looking at. Hmm that is a great laptop to compare to, considering the ultrabook is 4.3 lbs vs that toshiba is 5.5 lbs. And ya I'm still kinda leaning towards the ultrabook but very noice suggestion.

You could always replace the HDD with an SSD to make it lighter.(that's what macbook air does) My dad has a 20 GB SSD in his laptop to boot from, and uses an external drive to download stuff.
