I'm planning on getting into developing client-server applications, and I need some form of VPS to have a bit of a practice on. I know I could always just use a home PC, but if I ever wanted to make some projects live, so people could have a go and what not, I'd like to have something stable.
Does anyone know something that would be cheap and worthwhile for very small scale projects?
Cheers :)

I don't really know but I think it would help if you included preferred operating system, budget, min specs and preferred location.
PhotonVPS i've used for rs botting and it worked just fine. They have many packages which you can choose from.

Because this is all very new to me, probably best to stick to Windows for the time being, for the time being, probably $10 is what I should be paying at most, as it's a hobby, and the specs really can be pretty minimum, like 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, very little needed in the way of storage, and pretty small bandwidths.
I'll check out PhotonVPS, how good have you found their uptime?

Hey Richard,
I've been using a service called "Beyond All Knowledge" for the past year and it sounds like what you're looking for. Great up-time for a great price. I've got a 512Mb dedicated 1Gb burst setup for $8 a month.

That looks like the sort of perfect VPS I would need, but I'm not overly familiar with Linux, so do you know any good links that would go over the basics?

Why yes I do! Bookmarked it from when I was in the same boat :p Just follow the instructions to setup the gui and you're good to go. The linux os is pretty easy to get used to coming from windows.
