Recently, for the past couple of weeks, my shoulders began to hurt more and more. First it started as a dull ache, very dull, now its grown that its actually on a level 2 on the pain scale for me. I don't see any swelling, bruising or anything unusual on the outside.
I think its a joint problem, feels like its almost worn out, and the bones might be touching (Might be just me). No, I am not old, I am going to college soon.
At an old age, id expect this, but not this old lol.
Going to see a doctor about this. Until then, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, what this could be a symptom/problem of, or any advice.
PS: I did not change my diet recently, or put any extreme (if any at all) stress on my shoulders. Also, If this is in the wrong section, I request an Admin to please move it.
Thanks in advanced
~Joey

That does sound like me, I did a ton of basketball, tennis and volleyball before this. Did your pain stop? How long did it take and what did you do lol.
I feel like my bone is rubbing bone, and nothing in between them..

yer, i described it as internal pain, like it'd be okay if i sat still but sometimes if i moved a little it would be so sharp that i just froze and tried to move into a different another way. like instead of going all the way down to pick something up i'd go to the side abit and then down. Last time i felt it was a while ago, it comes and goes every now and then. it'll eventually stop, just have to get used to it, last time i had pain like it was a while ago. give it a year or so, visit your doctor etc. best thing you can do.
Edit : Being unclear. with me i woke up one day, i had pain, the next day i didn't idno if it'll be similar with you.. Karate for 7 years, Swimming for 4-5 years. also did rock climbing ever 2 weeks or so. football like everyday at highschool. i pretty much dropped all that around the same time -.-. still did like P.E but that wasn't enough i guess...

Oo, Mines isn't that severe, More like a deep, dull ache that is constant and annoying. If I don't move, it is minimal, I I move, it is quite a bit stronger.
Not really a sharp pain.

I get it once I stop a sport and dont continue with another and when I start a sport after not doing anything. Currently I get a dull pain when I go to lift heavy objects and when I do quick motions. In cold environments like when I play hockey, sometimes they stiffen up and I can feel the pain and it more annoying then a nuisance like I still play well. I have hurt my right shoulder in the past though and know it acts up from time to time so my story might not be the best to refer to.
Do your shoulders numb up and stiffen or do you just feel a slight pain?
Best thing to do is get your doctor to take a look like you plan on doing. My doctor tells me to take meds when it acts up a lot or when it is consistantly in pain, to come in and get it checked out again. Normally hockey is what makes it like this so that is why I am feeling it now.

No I can't really say it is numb, or that it stiffens. Just an ache, a very constant ache that increases with shoulder movement.

I have something like that too.. I'm a swimmer though so I'm not sure if it's just the increased stress on the ligaments..
Just head over to the docs and hopefully they can sort you out with a physio
Not meaning to come across rude but why wouldn't you see a doctor than posting it on a online forum mostly related to scripting :s

He also said he was going to see a doctor about it and just wondered if anyone here had previously experienced the same sort of thing.

Sorry for the double post guys, just got back from the doctors!
She did a general exam (no MRI's and X-rays of course) and for now, prescribed me an anti-Inflammatory, some other pain relievers and such. She thinks it is a problem with the tendons. Lets see how this goes. (Hopeful smile) :e

Get on of those cheap heated pad or a back massage if its tendons that should help you over the pain until you can manage with just the drugs :)

The main reason for any shoulder injury is due to the:
- Tendons (Rotator Cuff)
Can also be caused from growth.
The rotator cuff is a tendon inside the shoulder and in bodybuilding is vital to be trained in order to prevent injuries from occuring and overall increase strength in bench and shoulder workouts. I used to get epic shoulder pains from working chest/shoulders, what caused it? weak rotator cuffs. You need to peform light rotator cuff excersises a few times a week (takes like 1 minute).

Rotator Cuff workouts:
I personally do 3 different ones before any upper body workout. Use a 2kg-6kg dumbell depending on your physique capabilities, but dont go higher.

(Use a dumbell but)
3: Just a traditional shoulder press with light dumbell. Slow, good form.
Been doing it for about 6 months now, never have any shoulder pain since.

^^^Lol
@Bobbo, thanks! I will try that soon. You might be right, I do feel like the pain is coming from there.
PS: So far, the treatment from the doctor has no effect, though I doubt I will see much improvement in 1 night. Tootles

Did you get any new pillows or change sleeping environments lately? When I got a new bed I had the achey shoulder pains, but adjusting the bed and pillows fixed it for me.

No, that's the thing! I did nothing different recently! Everything, Diet, beds, workout, running, school, botting (lolz) and even Video Games, are all the same.

Sorry for the Double post :P
Aside from my shoulder not being fixed (still aches the same amount), I hurt my ankle pretty badly. Think it twisted, and was sprained. Can barely walk for now, my room is the stairs...enough said... :(

- Drink plenty of water to increase the water around your joints and muscles, this all ready naturally provides a lubricating effect in the body for them so It may help to up that a bit.
- Try taking (krill/fish/flaxseed)oil capsules daily it will help if not all ready doing so.
- Try to remain in a resting sitting or laying position in relation to the area during your activities when possible, to ease the pressure on your shoulders more in order for the muscles/joints to have a higher opportunity to correct themselves.
- Try bathing in some Epson salt's, for an hour 3-5 times a week if possible you will feel an immense change in the pressure and pain you due to the magnesium that will be absorbed.

.......And my shoulder hurts again.
Right now it is very painful. Feels like bone on bone. Taking some Nebumetone in the meantime.

Do you feel sick at all when you get the pain? Means something is very wrong.
Something could be torn in your shoulder and it could've happened out of nowhere. I did that playing hockey. Never got hit or anything but that night my shoulder was in a large amount of pain. Consider getting it looked at if it keeps up.

Hmm, I don't know what constitutes being/feeling sick though. Other than sleeping 8-10 hours a day, and still not able to stay awake at all during school. No real other symptoms, sometimes a sever headache though, bright lights, loud noises etc.
I don't think this happened over 1 day, like for a sports injury :(
kevin33
10-15-2012, 04:39 AM
Sick as in nausea :(
Usually means something is really bad and you need attention (from a doctor ofc).
Sleeping a lot means nothing and not being able to stay awake well we all have that problem at school when it gets really boring.
Im thinking it could very well be a tear of muscle, a pulled muscle, a ripped lig or tendon, or something to do with straining of the muscles.
Does it get aggrivated by certain movements? (Sorry if already answered this as its too late for me to feel obligated to even scroll up and read :P)
The pain seems like it is a muscle issue making me think of a pulled muscle or tear in the muscle.

Lifting object, heck even lifting my arm up fully is irritating/dull aching. Hmm, I don't think its the muscle, maybe tendon. Feels like rubbing bone on bone!
