Hello,

I've started with learning Java around 3 months ago by following tutorials of TheNewBoston and practising myself. The reason for learning is around 50% because the main programming language in my first year of university is Java and the other 50% is to make scripts for java-based bots.

I'm not sure if there is anyone here interested to learn Java by coding scripts for RuneScape. But I'd say it's a pretty nice way to learn :)

There is some more information about setting up the bot I'm coding for here: [X] (http://tribot.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=463&pid=3214#pid3214). I chose to script there because TRiLeZ (http://villavu.com/forum/member.php?u=58402) is the developer :) I personally find Powerbot and some other bots pretty sketchy and I was expecting that Jagex would break injection/reflection bots. TRiBot is based on OpenGL/Color so it's a nice way to play around with OpenGL before we have it here officially :)

I could probably learn to script in that when I get free time, though it looks like the community is dead, even more than here in terms of scripting.
I don't know whether it'll work through WINE though. :/

I might use this in the future, thanks jj

Well I wouldn't call it dead. It's better to say it is starting to grow. Before you can call something dead it has to "live" first I'd say. But yeah, for now the activity is pretty low. Don't think it will work through WINE for now :bart:

No problem, good luck if you decide to :)

This looks promising! I hope it doesn't turn out like RuneDream/RareBot.

Not much support in those two anymore

A friend in class told me to do some java tuts (@theNewBoston) on YT; said they were funny in terms of variable usage.

I'd be skeptical of using TriBot due to the fact Brandon's pointed out some files missing upon OGL hooking.. Plus the opening page for TriBot (accepting the conditions) seems more serious than here, so I'll probably stick to villavu for the time being :)

Trilez is actually a Developer here. Previously iirc Tribot was reflection but upon the first bot nuke he switched to OpenGL.

Why did he set up a new website instead of just developing on Simba, or request a separate forum here for it? That would certainly make both his work and SRL more widely known and with more contributors?

Wait till you see its registration question...took me over 5min to solve it last time.

I think he wanted to develop his own bot, I'm sure he would have developed OpenGL for Simba otherwise. The forum isn't that active mainly rotating around FallenShadow, Mat and me. And some other users that pop in regularly. The bot is very stable though and has a 100% uptime so I expected it to be more popular :P

For me if I try to start up TriBot it is giving me an error message. Could you use it at the moment?

EDIT: Working fine on Windows! :)

Only walking I think, I've always been interested in TriBot, will try out when I actually have some free time. ¬¬

If I could work out how to set TriBot up for scripting I'd love to learn java, guess I'm too noob :D
