So as you probably know, a number of prominent gambling hosts have been banned recently. Are you glad? Sad? Don't care? Vote in the poll and post your thoughts below.

I think Jagex needs to start up some probability (distribution) theory lessons, with xp reward for ppl who participate and are able to answer a follow-up quiz :p

Banning gambling hosts is just a short-term measure, as long as there are demand for them, they will spring up in no time just like botters.

Normally i won't care what happens within a game but sadly such prevalent activities in RS will have a negative impact on the teenagers playing the game. Gambling is a highly uneconomical activity, not only does it generate no economical output, it also tends to redistribute the national income from the poor to the rich (unless the hosts are direct government agencies), which is exact opposite of what the gov are trying to do!

As long as the host I use doesn't get banned, its all cool. :)

@ Riwu, "not only does it generate no economical output"? I've made over 100$ gambling smartly and selling once I reach a goal in RS. It's all about knowing when to stop, which is difficult for most people, including myself at times.

i think its a bad move. i worry that banning them will make them angry and come back stronger, fishy said in his video that he learned to never give up, therefore he may come back bigger. just look at MX799 and CLS Product, they already started their rebuild... if they could make it not worthwhile to host gambling games etc, it would be a better fix than just banning the hosts.

Are there any ways of gambling besides flowers and seals? Why doesn't Jagex just make the seal show the same number every time and the flowers be multicoloured every time?

In economics, the economical output refers to a generation of goods and services. As i've said in another thread, gambling is a zero sum game where every $100 you win, someone else will lose $100, directly or otherwise.

Gambling redistributes the income, it doesn't create any from the viewpoint of a society.

Flowers are a static red, and the seals don't display a number

Flowers will always be red, the seal emote will always show seal #1.

Looks like they took my advice :p

imo gambling isn't BAD for runescape but they should of been banned.
alot of players just play to gamble and it should be allowed as it keeps players in the game :p

Shouldnt people that only play to gamble be playing on an online casino instead ? If you are underage you shouldnt be gambling anyway. Not to mention runescape already has its own "gambling" set, its called staking and boxing with 99 flats will leave you 50/50 in a longrun.

They may come back stronger but this is Jagex's game in the end and if Jagex believes that they need to enforce a no-gambling policy (Because this game is aimed at ages under 18) then I believe Jagex will win in the end, especially if angry parents threaten them.

i really dont like gambling so i dont really care if people get banned, although i dont mind if their is gambling in rs, jagex cant fully get rid of it people will just find new ways to gamble. meaning their will be new hosters who mabye even become richer then win all day.

I personally have no problem with gamblers; tbh they are what keep the RS economy alive even if they are the ones who are also crashing the RSGP real value.

You see most of the people who gamble acquired their money doing something in game such as bossing etc. The put their money into gambling, sure sometimes they win but most of the time they will lose it all... this money goes into the hosts hand who already has too much to handle. He then sells this money, where it is then sold back to some child of the sort who goes pking in full torva and dies... the end. (shh, don't point out the various loop holes in my story)

Either way, I don't sell/buy gold anymore so the value of RSGP really means nothing to me and tbh it should mean nothing to everyone; people should not be making a living off of a game... but who am I to judge; I did it before I could get a job as well.

online casino is an option but they are more likely to pick up a irl addiction there. I agree with the underage bit

Yes, but there aren't banning them for gambling. they are banning for rwt which i agree with.
