Hey guys, so I've been making quite a few scripts, and one thing still eludes me, whats the best / most reliable walking method, i know how to do most if not all methods,

SPS, this seems to be most user friendly, however it constantly gets stuck in endless loops if it fails to see a point in a path and i can see no way to exit if it happens, Blindwalk has the exact same problem, so please dont just say "lol break your path up into blindwalks to avoid getting stuck" because in my experience this has no effect, if it is tested and definetly works, can someone post a procedure example? Sometimes Walk_Path will actually get me to the last point, but then it locks up and never leaves the command?

I really need to see how you can break it into blindwalk points, but they still sometimes do nothing and cause a loop the same as Walk_Path, Is there a fullproof way to do it? I tried something along the lines of
If SpotOnMM(x) then SPSBlind_Walk(x) else check all other points, but that had the exact same effect for me,

DTM, my second prefered option, if the area has good anchors, can work quite well but it is no good for areas with little to no anchors, i need a method for areas with very few color differences,

Radialwalk, colorclicking, etc, no good for the things i am currently working on due to them being desert or all grey floors,

I have thought about using just directional walking with a flag detection method untill i reach a landmark/anchor, but how good is the flag include? Is this going to get me in endless loops just like SPS?

So SRL, i ask what is your prefered method of walking ? If you use SPS, please show me how you avoid the endless looping.

Any advice / tips appreciated :) this is really holding me back from making long running useful walking scripts

They rely on color though right? (i know technically they alll do but u know what i mean)

I would go for DTM's since you can rotate them :)

I would go for TPA walking as it is the most reliable in my opion, you should be able to get a pretty accurate color and then walk to it even in the desert, also combine this with maybe a custom SPS map? or maybe even an advanced radial walk, then it will not have much a problem if one of them fails. I would honestly include 2 or 3 walking methods as failsafes. Never had the SPS problem that you are referring to.

For example, if you die mid path, its locked up and never leaves the sps loop, maybe it could be modified to check something like hp level?

procedure WalkPath;
Begin
MarkTime(spsloop)
Repeat
Begin
If TimeFromMark(spsloop) > 100000 then
Break;
Else
If Walk then
Result := true;

End;
Until Result;
End;

Or something like that, i am drunk and tired :)

Yea that would work too, could i make a custom SPS walkpath by taking it from the include into my script or would the change be needed in the actual include? Havent looked at what WalkPath is actually doing yet

If your thinking of doing directional walking, don't :p. Just use RadialWalk and set thin sectors in the direction you want to go.

I have the same problem, I have so many script ideas but I CANT for my life do any kind of walking accurately. My paths either die mid path, or just cant find the point/colour.

Someone should make a tutorial showing the best walking method/combination of different methods tutorial!

I just learned ODTM walking yesterday, it's really good for some places. How many anchor points are there where you want to walk?
