I tried going onto RS once under a proxy, Java wouldn't start for the game client so i don't know if you can use a proxy while playing the game.

Free proxys are slow anyway.

05-05-2007, 08:53 AM
starters you cant run runescape on a normal proxy, secondly its very rare for an ip ban. And if your worried about using your main and getitng banned just delete the uids.

If you use too many different IP's on the same account, your account will be locked.

If you want to change your IP address EVERY couple of seconds don't you get disconnected from the internet while its changing?

no, not if you use something like tor. although it changes everey couple of minutes or so, not seconds

no, not if you use something like tor. although it changes everey couple of minutes or so, not seconds

Offtopic: Tor is slow, but not always anonymous, the Government has nodes on Tor so anything illegal = not smart on doing anything illegal (just worth mentioning).

Proxies won't do much, and as stated before, "free proxies are slow".

To infuse this thread with a little bit of actual knowledge let me clarify some points:

A proxy does not "change" or "rotate" your IP Address every couple of seconds. :duh: What happens when you use a proxy, is the server receives your information, and transmits it to the destination. It then receives the information from the destination and sends it back to you. On the receiving end, it looks like all of the data is coming from the Proxy's IP. In this way, you can conceal your true IP address as a single other IP, not multiple ones

A proxy can not "change" or "rotate" it's own IP Address every couple of seconds either. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to connect to it :duh: (x2)

In order to remove the problem with slow proxies, use a SOCKS proxy in your local area, and not a HTTP (relay) proxy (This would also solve the problems in the loading of Java through a common proxy). However, SOCKS takes a little longer to setup.

A website with SOCKS Proxies: http://www.samair.ru/proxy/socks.htm

A link with HTTP proxies (for reference): http://www.samair.ru/proxy/fresh-proxy-list.htm

For information on how to setup your browser for SOCKS, all I have to say is :google:.

Enjoy

I've had issues with proxies on runescape.

I use an IP cloaking program when I break rules now.
Its called Hide IP Platinum. Jagex thinks im from china or sumtin. =D

Tor and vidalia will change your location for you every while and put you through a few servers. :D just a suggestion keeps me hidden

Proxys arnt designed to be able to run games like runescape because its constanly sending data and for you to recive it it gets sent through another computer then yours.

and whats a UID

Proxies the new 1s do not load java. Well the free 1s dont. The 1 i use from kaxy i have to pay tho wont work either. Best to do is to Delete UID.

Another way instead of using proxies would be to use VPN's that are set up to give people "anonymously internet". VPN (Virtual Private Network) is often used by corporations, when their employees want to access files and internal information (on the corporation network), through their home.

It work's something like this:

"Your PC" -> Encrypted Tunnel (traffic gets encrypted and goes through another network) -> "Destination"

I know these are quite popular in sweden and as far as their website says, they don't keep any so-what-ever logs of anything. I also remember the newspaper saying something about these being hard to trace. And the best benefit is that it actually works just like your normal internet (and it's fast, not like free proxies or something ;)).

Websites who provide this service (that I'm aware of):

https://www.relakks.com/
https://www.flashback.name/

EDIT: Forgot to mention that at least these two services cost money, although it's not very much.

Proxies are too slow to run Runescape.
And also, the location of the ip will constantly change, making Runescape think you share accounts with someone.

duh i know that jagex would see your ip but it's THEIR GAME so they can dectect that you ACCOUNT is still playing 24/7 thus still getting BANNAGe but ovoiding your OTHER chars from bannage only, and rs doesn't work with proxies. just charge your ip.

Proxies in the US is legal, just go to any Office Supply store and you can find a proxy program right off the shelves.
It's only illegal if you're using it to do something illegal.
