Samsung Galaxy s6

Coming out this month (at-least in the US)

I have always been sort of a 'samsung fanboy' (just kidding but I love my s4) but the s6 won't have a microSD slot, and you can't remove the battery. Removable battery isn't a big deal to me, though I understand if your battery gets messed up it's easier to just buy another for $10 instead of paying $100 to sending it to samsung.

But no microSD slot.... DEAL BREAKER. The one thing I loved the most about my s4 is the fact that I could put a microsd card in with all my movies and store apps on it. I don't see any point in spending a extra $200+(or whatever ridiculous markup there is) for 64 extra gigs.

i've had an S4 for 2 years +- (until some weeks ago when i got it stolen at the UMF) and i've loved it, been a total fanboy. But S5 and S6 leave much to desire... No removable battery? no microSD? daf*ck?? Iphone is turning into samsung and samsung into apple... They are realeasing the same type of sh*t phones! Im looking into the oneplusone now..

I have liked the Google Nexus devices for sometime now. -Again no SD card which is lame, wonder why phone manufactuers are going away from SD cards?

Am I the only one looking forward to Project Ara? I know it's Motorola... But still! Haven't we all dreamed about having a lego phone?

So apparently S6 has the best phone camera out there atm... Which is very important to me, but the rest... All the people I know curse about Samsungs being laggy as hell, and I'm not a fan of lag, but I have to switch until summer! Idk what to do.

By the way, won't it take long for Project Ara to receive other high-end parts from other manufacturers after it is going to be released? I'd say it will be a too long wait.

without the SD card slot you either

1) Buy a model with more space (as in spending $100 for 32 gigs)

I have opted for option 3 then I guess. But I am one of those people that like single use devices.

im looking for a new phone, and i was expecting the s6 to come out, but not anymore :/ , what options do you believe are good? (have microsd and removable battery, or atleast, a big one that lasts a lot)

mmhmm I actually have a flip phone still as I'm down in server dungeons 24/7 and don't need a phone other than some texting and rarely phone calls

the battery life of that is what catches my eye, the hardware obviously isn't "insane" but being able to buy it out right without issue + getting any phone carrier really makes it nice

my current phone lasts like 1-2 weeks without charging it so going to a smartphone where it does twice a day would kill me.. that phone hopefully lasts its "multiple days"



honestly though I wish the firefoxOS wasn't so closed down to be sold to poorer countries because that has more appeal to me than android really does

might even mess around with putting debian on the phone

Lost my phone whilst hiking this week! Looking at the https://oneplus.net at the moment... Don't think I can wait a month without a phone for aura reviews :(

Yes, I like samsung in all but competition is always good for the consumer... things can get real crappy when there is only 1 (practical) choice *cough* comcast *cough*

I'd honestly say, depending on the reviews too, that the OnePlus looks better overall right now. It's still got an HD display and a high resolution camera. It is also really fast for a phone at 2.5GHz AND more battery than the Galaxy S6. It also as the option to add an SD card for more memory. I would buy the OnePlus unless the Galaxy S6 was way better on price or if the reviews on the OnePlus were bad.

The Spectrum Aura has the biggest phone battery I've ever seen but isn't really the phone for me. It's about average speed(which really just depends on your budget) but I'm not really ever worrying about battery so long as it gets through the day.

My personal pick order:
OnePlus > Galaxy S6 > Aura

Atleast intel still has quality products though

Haven't heard anyone mention the HTC One M9 yet? I'm up for a new phone this summer and I was leaning towards it after hearing the M8 was really good. I don't really like Apple or Samsung, so the HTC seemed to fill everything I needed. The Aura looks way cheaper though and still has some pretty nice specs, so it might be worth a look then.

Seems like the toughest decision when getting a new phone now is "what rage-inducing function do I want" instead of performance and whatnot.

I was thinking about M9 but when it was unveiled... Nah. Camera lacks quality, even though it's 20.7MP, the design hasn't changed, they still left the black htc bar in the front and wasted a lot of space which could have been given to enlarge screen size while maintaining the actual size of the phone. S6 all the way! Even though I thought I would never go for a Samsung...

HTC One M9 = Shadow clone jutsu of HTC One M8
HTC One M8 = Shadow clone jutsu of HTC One M7, the last time they really made a huge leap.

Nothing against HTC, but it's not even like they're trying.

S6 turned me off when I heard about the battery and micro sd.
Hopefully their note series can correct that, otherwise it's bye bye Samsung for me. Sucks too, since I've had my S4 for 2 years now, and I've grown so attached to it.

From the looks of it, doesn't seem too appealing.
My hopes are up for the Note 5 right now, although the transition from S4 to Note 5 in screen size would be ridiculous, if I were to purchase a phone.
I've heard something about Sony and their Xperia line but, for the life of me, I can't remember what.

Not sure about LG and whether they have removable batteries or micro SD cards, but one can pray.

I can't understand it... The 4,000 battery is nice, but everything else is far below standard. Is it the design that you guys like so much? The specifications are very low.

That battery life at that price? it's wayyyy worth it. I don't want to pay double the price for phone bill.. I do like $30 a year.

It has plenty of "hardware" and isn't really below standard
I prefer battery life

That phone looks perfect. Right now I have an LG Optimus G that I got for $75 ($60 for the phone, $15 for a replacement volume button)

It's similar to that phone in a lot of ways except it has half the (non-removable) battery capacity and no SD card slot. At least LG gave it 32GB of storage (25GB user available)

yea I really really hope to see good reviews it'll be nice ot get a $150 phone and get some on the go plan and spend like $50 a year on phone service lol

I don't find the specs low at all :S I don't see why I need a laptop in a phone or watch..


I only use my phone for calls & texting. I don't use apps or any of the fancy stuff. Occasionally I use my phone to develop apps but that's about it. For this reason, size, design and battery are priority for me. A small phone, nice design and battery; I'm happy. I'm unhappy if my phone is the size of a tablet or brick PSP. I don't care much for quad core or anything special. I have a nice custom ultra-book for that.

TLDR: I can survive with a brick or flip phone.

My assumption would be the low ram, since most flagships are moving onto 3GB ram, minus the iPhone. Multitasking, etc.
Camera has lower megapixels compared to current flagships which shouldn't mean much, but most people interpret higher megapixels = better quality photos.
Lack of LTE for data connections and 1280x720 display might be some other ones. The 1280x720 display would probably help with battery consumption, along with most parts on this phone, which definitely helps it's claim of being long usage time oriented.

This phone could be compared to the Galaxy SII or SIII. First off only the version of Aura with 2GB RAM is worth buying; nothing running a quad-core (or higher) CPU should have less than 2GB RAM. The MTK6582 CPU has a max of 1.3ghz and comes with the super old Mali-400. Those of you who don't know, Mali is the cheaper brand of GPUs and, performance-wise, falls behind of Adreno and Tegra. I'd still prefer a OnePlus One compared to the Spectrum Aura. When the OnePlus Two comes out it will destroy everything, the only problem is that it's incredibly expensive (going by the pre-sale prices ~500usd).

The Aura has a 4,000mAh and the ulefone / Kingzone phones have 2,600 / 2,800 respectively. So if those phones go dead in a 1/3rd of a day, yours will die in 2/3rds of a day. Also, those 64bit chips are twice the processing speed and they're a significantly newer generation of CPU; they're much less energy-consuming compared with MTK6582. This is normal for mobile CPUs to become more energy-efficient with each new generation of chip.

So again, the only advantage of the Aura is the 4,000 battery which doesn't put it far ahead, if at all, of a new generation energy-efficient 64-bit CPU. If that 4,000 batter lasts longer then there's your only advantage, the two phones I listed above dominate in every of area of specifications.

Sounds like that is another excuse for them to make money. First Verizon and ATT locked the phones to where you have to use safestrap to get around it. Then they choose to sell unlocked phones at a higher cost. I do hate the fact that took away the MicroSD that is one of the reasons I haven't went towards apple. I hate being tied down especially to things that I have bought.

Most likely because of the new flash memory and RAM which allow the phone to have writing/reading speed 4 times better than any other phone on the market. MicroSDs would slow the phone down and then the complaints about the lag would start rolling in.

Probably my next phone, I can forgive the design, S6 is great in every other way.
