Attention Spammers and Leechers...

With the restructuring of the forums, has come an increased amount of SPAM...it is really not that hard...to take a week, and space out constructive posts in this time period, as opposed to making 10 SPAM posts back to back...To all of those that have done this or are considering it, Let this be my warning to you, to not waste any more of your own time or ours......If you want to learn to use SCAR/SRL and want to be part of this community...then you will need to take some initiative yourself and try to learn...You will find many people here that are willing to help you, but you first need to try and help yourself....

BTW, Here is a nice piece of hate Mail that was sent to me...Please, Keep them coming...It just lets me know, that my efforts to thwart Spammers and Leechers are not in Vain :)

When I see 10-11 posts within an hour I reset post count to 0, but I'll start giving infractions too. Good job.

If this doesn't work we can go to week-banning (and then overriding the join date to after ban, so they would have to wait another week).

I think good punishment for not using search button would be that next time they visit SRL, they would be auto-redirected to my How To Use Search Button tutorial, and they could not avoid that until their time spent in that thread from same IP would be > 20 minutes.

These leechers are annoying me to add random mumblings of IP banning in my posts. If only we could just have an auto leecher feature where is just bans them instantly if they use any 1337 speak or not typing there words out all the way in a post.

I know you guys are trying to crack down on spam, leechers, etc. I also don't wish for any infractions as I may one day become highly involved with this forum. Just a question though, do you take the time to read the posts that these 'spammers' have written? I made 7 constructive posts in about 3 hours of browsing, yet 2 still got deleted... :o

Teh_lulz: Actually your activity for the forum will all recorded in the historical stats if you don't believe it try click your user name and you find all the info about you and what have you post, this is where we will know whether your a leech or spammer.

metagen: i suggest you make a thread so that others can refer it on your first post. It would be nice to have as a reference to others.

And another one - There would be people, and then a system pics somebody logged in from this group, which would be sent a message automatically when somebody has reached the longevity and posts, and then the guy who the message was sent to would go check the posts by this newcomer and if they were ok he could "Confirm" this user (some button in his profile) and only then he would be upgraded to SRL Junior Member status?

I personally think that we are very biased towards newcomers. We can take alot that they say and consider it spamming. If you looked through my history and i was a newcomer ud have delted some of my posts too lol. I dont make any 1 word posts, but some things i say just carry on a conversation. I think we should go a little easier on newcomers.

I started posting on this forum and had about 13 posts and then this thing came into affect and im like wtf! I had just finished my first ever script and i was like i wanna post i wanna post!!!!!!!! And then BAM whered all the forums go?

So i made about 10 posts (not spam but reletively useless) so tht i could get 25 posts. Then it still wouldnt work so im like guhhh and an hour later it worked or something. I basically went to all of the useless threads and posted there (like how much have you made autoing?)

I think that these useless posts are pretty much all the newcomers can do... i mean i was pinned by it too. the forums are really limited and they dont have enough experience to really help other people yet. So what can they do?

The point of this is to keep leechers out afterall. A LEECHER in my opinion would just spam useless posts. I think everyone starts out a bit of a leecher. I downloaded like 10 scripts trying to find a working one and then i ran it for a bit. THEN i'm like i wanna be a member, so ive been working hard for that.

What makes me not a leecher, is that instead of trying to be a member for the pretty member scripts, i like you people :) i think its a great system thats going on here (once u break the noob wall). It's a fun community and tbh it passes computer science time (stupid VB).

I just thought it would be sensible of myself to post an apology for any spam i may have committed in the past few days - of course without knowing (Was very Noob of me) and would like to apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused such as reading over my 3 word responses and thought 'what a cock for wasting my time.'

@Metagen, it is the friendly atmosphere that attracted me here and keeps me here....the way people are willing to help new people out...keep everything open source and pass on their knowledge...I disagree, there is plenty a newb person can do to contribute to the community, without making useless posts....
