whats the deal with leaching

WTF. isnt the point of having a forum full od scripts to LET PEOPLE USE THE SCRIPTS! we want to auto 1 simple function, but we have to wait a week and post 10 times. Why would someone make a script, but want people to make their own! why do people object to "leaching"!!!!!?????????. ITS THE POINT OF A FORUM FULL OF SCIPTS! TO USE THEM!!!!!

oh and as for it being against the rules to spill scipts.... ITS ALSO AGAINST THE RULES TO AUTO RS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not that you or i care about that) SO WHY SHOULD I OBEY THESE INCREDIBLY INSENSIBLE RULES)

Because people like you want to rape and destroy RS, while we at SRL are trying to blend in with other players, and conserve the economy. Encouraging people to script and discouraging people to leech also ensures that we will have a larger variety of scripters for the future, and that RS will not be mistreated. If you read the very front page of the forums, it says :

Lol from the title I thought you were going to diss leaching.

i support lord saturn's statement, "'we are cheating and 'breaking the rules', we are still maintaining our respect for ourselves, and our respect for RS." the 7 day 10 post restraint, at least filters out the leachers who 1) lack patience ... autoing itself requires time to do properly , 2) should first learn how to use a computer properly and 3) are rude, and have a lack of respect for people who are trying to teach.

And yes the point of a forum full of scripts it to let people use the scripts but it is also to educate people on the art of macroing. In life, its not always 'give me give give me'. You've got to give back to community, and only through the continual education can the RS cheating community survive. I've seen alot of old scripters that have given up rs cheating, but they have passed on their skills to the current scripters who can help everyone learn the art of macrooing.
Im a noob myself and only just got back to runescape the game itself (lol i play mainly text based games), but wouldn't it be cooler if you could participate in the intellectual challenge of overcoming the random events jagx throws at you? No doubt RS will die one day, but macroing skills apply to a whole lot of other mmorpgs and who knows if you're good at it, it can pave a way to a future career. (i.e. working for a game ironically trying to stop cheaters :P)

oh and for your comment:

if you spill scripts, people will stop releasing scripts. not to mention you'd be unlikely able to obtain a good script again. So it is in the best interest for both sides for scripts (in which hard work was put in) not to be spilled.

a forum full of leachers imo is unsustainable, breeds ignorance and never progresses.

They also want people to contribute to the forum, which is only natural. If no one contributes, the forum falls apart and we wouldn't even be able to enjoy using these scripts in the first place. It's just a necessity.

Maybe people don't want their hard work going to waste on people like you.

Just to satisfy the curiosity, if you don't mind...what is this one simple function you wanted to auto? If it's simple enough, I'll help you out.

Well maybe it's to ensure that all the scripts are well-formed and that they work. I mean, if people are required to wait a whole week and post 10 times, they'll become more connected to the community which will generate help amongst the script writers. And if people help others with their scripts then the script is probably going to work.

So if you want the instant gratification of free scripts, just go elsewhere.

well, i would say the point of having a fourm full of scripts is to shair the scripts and knowledge of scripting. not for one person to make one then everyone else leach off him. most of the users on this site contribute there own scripts and i would say that most of them dont auto a LOT. its more of a challange to see what we can do.

thats just my thoughts.

How do you think these various scripts came to be? If everyone came here once, downloaded all the scripts and left there would be about 3 scripters, who would stop putting up their work since no one would comment them.

People don't want to give you anything because of your rudeness.
Be nice and post useful posts and u will get some SRL Junior Member scripts soon.
And most importantly try to start scripting. :)

I run a community site myself. Nothing aggravates me and the other admins more than people who join and just lurk. Some people want something for nothing on the internet, and that's not the spirit that the web (particularly the Open Source Community) was made on.

I've been playing with SCAR for 2 days now and actually enjoying learning how to work it and make scripts (I see quite a few other applications for this as well). I can't imagine how some of the members here feel knowing they're giving away their hard work while other sites use these scripts to make money.

10 posts in 7 days is all you guys ask for becoming junior members? Jeez, I can make 10 quality posts in a forum in a day. :rolleyes:

Well, after your first post...I was kind of curious to see what kind of contributions you would make to the community.....You started off pretty good by asking some questions...but it appears your last 5 posts were made back to back, lack any substantial merit and appear to just fill the gap to 10 posts.....very disappointing....I was hoping the outcome would be different.

while i agree with the first post, i also disagree... it is unfair you have to wait 7 days and post 10 posts, but it does weed out the people who are just here to get the best scripts, then leave... so the pro's outway the con's and if you really wanted the script, youd wait and post anyway:p

Well, you basically said the same thing with two different sentences there.

Also it's not a big deal to me if I have to wait 7 days and post 10 times, not that difficult. Just deal with it, it helps the forum stay alive and isn't completely destroying the RS community. :)
