i cant give it over 276MB RAM cuz it says error not enough memory to the host lol...maybe my PC too weak?
Eerik.
Yeah your PC is too weak, does not have enough RAM installed to share with a VM.
To get internet, install VM Additions and then install some drivers for your ethernet card or wireless card.
where can u change the amount of ram u give to it?
because it lags quite mutch for me..
thqnk you works good
With my virtual PC closed, I changed RAM dedicated to it by clicking on Start>All Programs>Virtual PC and then right clicking on the virtual pc icon by my clock and clicked on "Show Virtual PC console. On that popup, I highlighted my virtual machine, clicked on settings, and adjusted the amount of Memory and clicked O.K.
Restarting my real PC seems to have made the biggest difference so far. I haven't had time to mess with it much since then.
I've got 6GB of RAM on my computer... wonder how many I can setup? :D
I bet 6GB will do a lot better than me. My system is older. It is maxed out with 2GB and cannot recognize any more. I want to build a new computer...
I only set up one virtual PC. I've had too many tests this week to mess with it much.
I've read through most of this thread and I just wanted to make sure of a few things.
1. Can you have multiple vm's and have each one run scripts?
2. Is each vm a window that you can minimize and scar will still find colors?
still have to say this thing still works wonders
Thanks Swift. You replied faster than I expected.
Another queston: When I tried to use two vm's on runescape, it gave me the "too many accesses from this address." Do I use those proxy things to resolve this? If so, how do I do that?
tyvm, before i was stuck with a windows 98 vm, and lets say it didn't work too well so TY
thats very good but its a pain up the but trying to find the 2 files as for me you cant direct them but only save them to the desktop before you dowload which is usless also.. when you get the blue dosa window up... you might want to add that if you dont find that thing, you can press 'c' and create your own as that worked for me
also is there anyway to dowload this vm onto a cd or something so you basically have a computer in your pocket? or can you not get a cd/memory stick that holds that much?
I finally got the popup about vm additions. I hope they will make everything easier.
I'll be sure to try this out tomorrow when I have some time on my hands. Then, I can play legitly and macro at the same time.
I do the same, but be sure to delete random.dat and uid.dat (havnt got this in a while, dont know why...)
Very Good Tut!
Very Detailed and nice pics :)
I can't get it to boot off the iso you provided. after gets past the main screen its stuck at a black _ line keeps blinking.
Hey just wondering, if you get a virus on your VM will u get a virus on your whole computer?
My computer is definitely not smart enough to play on two accounts at the same time. I think the single core socket A AMD Athlon XP 2200+ is holding me back. I have 2GB of PC2100 RAM and a 6800GS AGP graphics card.
While autoing well on the VM, runescape lags so bad on my actual PC to make it just about unplayable.
I gave the VM 256MB RAM and 5GB harddrive space. I am using SCAR 3.12 because it works with a script I want to run now.
It is very nice to be able to browse the internet and macro though.
Thanks again for this tutorial.
No, you will not get a virus on your whole computer if you get one on your VM.
At the top of the window go to Action > Reset and click Reset on the popup window
You have more than enough RAM to supply the VM, so see if increasing it to 600mb helps. After you set the settings to 600mb ram, restart your computer, then start the VM and see if it's going smoothly.
Does that have something to do with the proxy? I have no idea how to use those.Quote:
There should be an option to use NAT on one VM and Bridged on the other one. I do that and it works fine.
The virtual machine seems to auto Runescape great with just 256MB of RAM. I don't think giving the virtual machine more ram would affect it.
I just can't play on my normal machine at the same time. I think it's the processor's fault, since I have plenty of RAM.
I don't think NAT and bridged have anything to do with proxy. On the virtual PC console, under Settings and Networking, you can set a virtual machine's adapter to "Shared networking (NAT)" and set a different virtual machine's adapter to "Local only." I think Local only is the setting to use for bridged. Please correct me if it is not.
Thanks, I'll try this and see if it works.Quote:

Wow. This is really, really cool.
Spam!!! But True it is a very good tutorial, I will be using it in a matter of days! but until then, Rep++! lol
Ite, thanks :p. Go try it out and let me know if the duplication works or not.
umm i cant get on the internet with it. how could i fix that??
and sorry if that has already been asked
EDIT: ok i got it and its awesome thank you soo much, but how would i get all my scar scripts onto the VM??
The duplication worked for me. I have my first virtual machine set to NAT. I set the second one to my wireless adapter. Everything looks good. I'm glad it was easy and quick. Thanks for letting us know about it.
I have a problem with running multiple VM's. Either VM's internet only works with one network setting, My D-Link wireless adapter. So when I try to run multiple VM's on runescape, it tells me the login limit is exceeded. I have tried all of the different network settings within the VM. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Use unsigned version when opening the RS client.
I was using unsigned on both VM's. Do I need them on different client settings?
Also... If the VM's are turned off, is the RAM that I gave to the VM's used by my real computer again? Basically, do I have all of my RAM when the VM is off?
ehm..
Hello,
When I try to install the 30,4MBIT it says; you must uninstal previous versions of virtuel PC before installation. This application will now quit
ehmm but i dont have any other programms .. only tinyxp and the 30.4MBIT
if I dl the other 1 it say it again. So what can i do?
thankyou
Can anyone tell me how much hard drive memory MS Virtual PC takes up when installed?(Not including a Virtual PC)
Is it a free program?
And would it be better than the VMware Workstation 6.0 ACE Edition?
If Microsoft's version uses less Hard Drive space, I might consider switching to that.
