Whats DDoS. giving the server a overload. Visit the page with a lot of computers. the server can't handle it. and will crash. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack
but in theorie every one could DDoS a server.
Well, It's pretty easy to dos. I can take down a few websites just by opening a s**t load of sockets and connecting to it a few thousands times repetitively, but taking down rs servers would take a lot of computers. Maybe controlled by a botnet. You'd need quite a bit of bandwidth, and some fast internet connections.
so basically a DDOs is connecting thousands of times in a short time period and overloading the server??

Actually it looks like they were just updating the grand exchange and summoning rather than someone attacking their server
RS is still slow and not even opening the worlds...
I had to open 3 times runescape until it worked, all the other times it crashed while communicating with the update server (Don't know if this has to do with a DoS attack)

yea they keep taking the servers down lately and its throwing off my scripting :(
I thought it was just me. I kept on trying to access worlds and it came up with a 404 error. Was that the error you were getting?
RS are doing little and simple updates quiete ofthen these days.
they're either improving the game or maybe putting tras in to catch autoers...
hackers can't really take down rs servers cause of the 2k max player limits.
and yes, proably a micro update(unnoticable or unannounced), or a real update.
but most web sites, like mine and have infinate amounts of page and would crash my server, but my hosters would probably sue the hackers big time..

this has happedn many times before just a minor server crash, they wil exsplain on forums later when ever this happend the disable to forums cause there will be 1000s of people making thread " o noes runescape anit working". it has happend lots before.
