my uncle is gay, and probably one of my favorite relatives (i have over 20 aunts n uncles). do i agree with him being gay... no, but i definitly dont treat him differently. i think he deserves equality also.

Seperate church and state. It is stupid to have a religious ceremony give tax cuts and other benefits. i would be in favor of having a universal civil union (that gives the same exact benifits of marriage) that would need to be signed and submitted to the government whether or not you are married. i find that to be the most fair.

historians dont have details records of events before the bible/quran/torah were even created. so how could u say that marriage was way before that? and also, even if it was (because i personally believe it was) how could u say that there werent any other religions that thrived and held the marriages?

only recently (say 1000 years) has the world seen a huge incline of "non religious marriages" or secular marriages. what am i talking about? i am tlking about marriages that dont include any type of religious leader. like goin to vegas and getting married on the spot. or just having a grand wedding in your backyard (without the religious person to marry u).

2000+ years ago, often times, kingdoms would have national religions. so the rulers would force all people to be married by a religious leader.

since, as far as i know, marriages started from religion (or was affiliated with religion), i believe that it is still a religous act

My point is, gays should stay away from the public. When i have a kid, i wouldn't want him to be around someone who is homosexual, because that might influence him to be the same. I would just like to point out that in cases with identical twins, there are numerous reports of one of them being gay and the other not. Seeing as their genetic makeup is essentially identical, it is beyond extremely unlikely that homosexuality is chosen by genetics. Other factors and influences like their relationship with their father (which is usually poor), abuse, or circumstances with siblings have a greater impact in someones likelihood to choose homosexuality.

Extensive research has been done, for example, on behalf of alcoholics to understand the nature of their addictions. While some factors seem to contribute, there are many people who are "predisposed" to, for example, alcoholism, who are not alcoholics. Likewise, criminals -- varying from rapists to thieves -- have occasionally claimed they were born that way. That is hardly an excuse for their behavior.

While I'm not equating Homosexuality to rapists, my point is this: Just as people who acknowledge they are angry, have an inferiority complex, or are addicted to something and are able to consciously avoid giving into it, homosexuals, rapists, and alcoholics are more than capable of choosing not to give into their urges.

In a small handful of cases they've been able to lead heterosexual lives afterwards. In other cases, they've simply resolved to enjoy life without a relationship.

The real reason why homosexuals engage in homosexuality is because they want to. The point of this post is not to say that is right or wrong, but it is to underline that homosexuals who claim to not have wanted to engage in it or to not have had a choice are either lying or displaying a serious lack of willpower.

Any idea or trait that you have is somehow onset to you by society. This is kind of obvious, as we don't come out of the womb already speaking a language or even knowing how our body functions.

I bet that in your younger years (which you do/don't remember) you most likely witnessed an event that involved something with your father and mother or another couple or whatever that somehow made you switch your ideas. Maybe it was your mom harassing your dad, or the other way around. Either way you subconsciously realized - "Oh this is not right."

From there, your brain has based its thoughts on relationships the same way, but now you think you can't change them.

So therefore, are you born like that? NO. But do you choose to be like that? Not necessarily.

IMHO, such relationships are wrong. There is absolutely no way a person can do to the same sex as them the same thing heterosexuals do. One of the people pretends to be the male counterpart, the other the female. It's unethical, and humans were not created that way.

It's simple to change, you just have to stray away from society for a while, change your ways and come back to realize how you should really interact with others. With enough willpower anything can be done.

Things were different in the Old Testament before JC came around. I feel that even though Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin that they should accept homosexuals for who they are, just another human being. Everyone sins according to Christians right? From stealing something trivial or thinking about another woman when you are married to murder. I'm not a christian per say but I feel that if Christians claim that no one is perfect and everyone sins, then why not accept everyone for who they are; Sinners. No sin makes one worse than another according to them right? The only thing wrong with that imo is in that case, homosexuals would have to admit that what they are doing is a sin, which if I was homosexual I wouldn't want to repent every day that I am a homosexual if it's just how I am, kinda like admitting that breathing is a sin or something. I don't appreciate the hatred the church brings upon homosexuality nor do I understand it if Christians are supposed to treat everyone like Jesus would.

All I see is a lot of parables taken out of context and put into your own words. Besides I was under the impression that most people were aware that the Bible teaches if you don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God you go to hell. Why are all the passages you quoted questionable? They make perfect sense to me. Marriage is a covenant with God between man and woman. That is the whole idea of marriage, that is where marriage came from. So I really don't understand why an atheist homosexual is complaining about not being able to get married.

I'd also like to say that picking and choosing Bible verses to put a hole in someones faith is fairly easy. As a matter of fact, it was done in the Bible. The most notable time was Satan tempting Jesus Christ.

As for the head covering, this was Jewish custom. If you want to argue Bible, study it, know what you're talking about. Reading random books is not studying.

I'd also like to say that picking and choosing Bible verses to put a hole in someones faith is fairly easy. As a matter of fact, it was done in the Bible. The most notable time was Satan tempting Jesus Christ.

As for the head covering, this was Jewish custom. If you want to argue Bible, study it, know what you're talking about. Reading random books is not studying.

You seem to have forgotten that anything can be made a God. Also, in the Bible, God created Adam and Eve right? Well, I don't remember reading anywhere that he married them. So basically, they had children out of wedlock, isn't that big no-no?

You're point of the idea of marriage coming from God is invalid, unless you can give me proof otherwise. Which also makes your "So I really don't understand why an atheist homosexual is complaining about not being able to get married." statement mean nothing and just stupid.

I'm tired of these people saying that homosexuality is a sin, and you'll go to hell, and that they chose to be that way. Answer me this: Why would anyone CHOOSE to be hated on, persecuted, out casted, on the other side of extreme bullying, etc? If they had a choice, I'm positive none of them would choose to go through that. The ones that would choose that, are 100x better than I could ever be.
