As said above, there's a large difference between leechers and New registered users. Registered users are simply new. It's not a crime
Leechers, however, is a completely different sotry. They spam the forums with single word posts. Make dozens of threads asking the same question over and over again, in the wrong forums, when a stick has already answered the above question. Large difference, my friend.

Yes, the IRC is very helpful plus usually the higher up people are there and it's faster easier help than posting. But if you can't get the download IRC working (Like me) you can use the internet one here: http://www.hy71194.mgatesphoto.com/srlchat/ It still connects to the main channel so you still get help. Chances are searching for your error or problem will yield constructive results within minutes. You do not sit and wait days to find your problem. There are search engines, this is not a old unorganized archive. When someone asks why the script they downloaded does not work when it is a error like "SRL include missing" it would have taken them 10 seconds to go to the top of the thread, click "search thread" and type in 3 or 4 relevant words into there. Then another couple seconds later (depending on the traffic of the site your internet connection) you will be brought to a page with results.Quote:

I think you misunderstand the meaning of leecher (as it stands on this forum). According to us, a leecher is one how just takes something and leaves, without doing anything else. If you post proggies, give feedback, report bugs, etc, nobody will call you a leecher (hopefully...). Some people expect you to learn, but, obviously, not everyone has time in their life to take up the immense hobby of programming. I could probably go register on any forum on the entire internet as a 1 post newbie and post something similar to this about how the mods/admins "control the world", and it would either get immediately deleted, or it would lead to a thread like this.
If it was a respected member of the community, it might be a productive thread. When it's a newbie that knows almost nothing about the forums and how they work, it's pointless.
This is a GREAT community. It's a FRIENDLY community. If a 1 post newbie comes here and doesn't see that, that's their problem, not ours. People here with hundreds or thousands of posts started out as 1 post newbies at one time, so we've ALL been there. About 43,000 others registered but never bothered to stick around. joeybaltimore thinks he is somehow "special" because he saw SRL for the horrible, hateful place he thinks it is, and he's going to go play somewhere else. That's not being "special", that's being ignorant and following the other 40,000+ people that came here, never bothered to participate for whatever reason, and left. His loss, not ours.
If people want to keep stroking this guy's ego and making him think he's really as "special" as he thinks he is, keep posting here. I'm sure that's his only goal at this point. But he isn't special, and he has no idea how this community really is, so it's pointless as far as I'm concerned.

I have something to say here:
If you don't want to make scripts, fine. Don't. At least post progress reports ect. Something that can help.
Also, if you do make a script, many first scripts I actually use, because they are new members with fresh ideas for scripts, that are useful and I hadn't thought about. Don't think that you are worthless in our eyes. You really need to open your eyes and see that we aren't the enemy. Why do we write all of the tutorials? So you guys learn, and make the next generation of great scripters as many are leaving (growing up, school, personal life etc.)
The new people are the gateway to a new generation of scripters, and flaming isn't helping.

This system promotes self instruction in SCAR and the ability and neccisity of helping the forum community.
