Welcome back to SRL-Forums!

Important Message: Please take the time to read!

We are very proud to host SRL-forum from villavu once again, as it was the first home of SRL. SRL is back to its roots!
We have tried our utmost to make this change as transparant as possible for everyone. But porting a modded and severely mangled database into the latest VBulletin isn't as simple as it seems. Luckily the cunning Wizzup? has been working round the clock (I<3 Wizz!) setting each post back to its rightful owner and set, reset, direct and redirect each of the 500K posts to properly match SRL's new domain.

New VBulletin!

We are running the latest VB 3.8.1. and a fresh Satellite. We wil continue to update as VBulletin updates. There are a lot of improvements:
- More PM's! - We have raised the PM's for every Registered User to 500.
- New and better slim look.
- Code highlighting for SCAR and over 40 program languages!
- More Styles.
- Auto scaled Avatars.
- New Notification interface.
- Faster response time.
- Social Groups. Each member is allowed to make/enter 5 Social Groups.
- Albums. Each member is allowed to make a picture album. We will monitor the implication for server- and discload.
- Edit History.
Name Server

Many people have asked me:"Why dont you keep the domain srl-forums.com?" Well frankly speaking: it is hard to get in touch with dankness. He is a hard working man and our timeslots are exactly opposite. Since SRL was down for the fourth time we decided to port the whole thing over to Villavu. Since I am the legal owner of SRL-forums, I hope dankness will grant the DNS srl-forums.com->villavu.com but not exactly sure on the situation right now. So for now it is Villavu. Spread the word. I will also post a thread on most boards I know.

Finances

All finances are properly managed now. Hosting, VBulletin and Satellite are all paid for, meaning we are 100& legal. And no more offlines, risks of loosing the database, overdue payments etc. Having said that; donations are more then welcome since it will allow SRL to further grow and develop. If through donations, adds and hits SRL generates more than it costs, it will come to the benefit of the SRL-community, you have my word!

Things to come

Stats2User

Stats2User implementation. As you will notice, stats are down for the moment. A new stats system will emerge soon. This statssystem will be linked to your ForumID, meaning that the stats will be integrated into the forums. This opens up a whole new and exciting range of possibilities. Starting of with a stats ranknumber in your Avatar of course.

Open SVN

The SRL Development Team has decided to grant every user read-access to the Developers SVN. This means that the whole community will benefit from faster updates as they are available the moment the Devs commit changes. A new announcement system will notify users of SVN-updates.

Bugzilla

The standard bug-tracking/reporting tool will be used to Develop SRL.

Portable SRL

Yes. You heard us. SRL will be ported to the Touchies, the Berries and the IPhunnies. Cant wait to see that happen!

MarketPlace

Due to many requests a Marketplace will be opened to Members at SRL. Since members are trusted by way of approved appliances we figured it might be worth a try. Rules will follow.

Widening Scope

Yes there is more to Gaming than this game we are all so good in cheating at. There is a good chance we will start mastering other games too, provided SCAR can handle them.

New Styles

There are many good skins for VB. We are investigating this.

These are just a couple of ideas that will come in the very near future.

Bugs

Due to the nature of the import there may be small errors and inconsistencies. Please report those issues to the admins.

The ones mentioned below we already know, so dont report those please.

Thread ID's

Since the old srl-forums.com's database contained inconsistencies Wizzup? wrote a PHP/SQL script redirecting threads to their new imported ID.

URL Redirects

Since the url http://www.srl-forums.com is referenced throughout the entire database, Wizzup? redirected all threads to http://www.villavu.com.

URL in Signatures

We are afraid you will manually need to redirect your direct reference from srl-forums to villavu in your signatures.

User Name Colors

For some reason a couple of Junior Member Names suddenly changed color to the horrible banned color. They are NOT banned, lol. Just report to the Admins and they reset them back to normal.

I have made sure that the SCAR tags were preserved, and they can be used in exactly the same way.

The SCAR tags are still available, but I recon that most of you will favour the new pascal highlighting.
They don't have the nasty bug where one can't use a ' character in a string without messing up the whole highlighting.

They can be used in like this:

[ highlight=pascal ]If New_Server() Then WriteLn('Hooray!') Else WriteLn(':<');[ /highlight ] (Provided you remove the spaces.)

Result:
pascal Code:

```
Pascal could ofcourse be replaced by the language of your choice, as long as it matches one of the 44 languages mentioned above.

One thing I noticed is, where is the Site Supporter Symbol?

And thats pretty lame you have to pay for different skins.
