I actually think this story had a great lesson to be learned, because it seems that they were ORIGINALLY motivated by the thought of freedom (which they were told they would obtain after 30 days of staying awake) so it seems that they all started going mad in order to be "the one" who obtains freedom, but it seems they forgot WHY they were doing it... and after a while their motivation was no longer freedom, but to have the gas and to stay awake... when in reality they needed the gas and to stay awake in order to get FREEDOM.
we can apply that lesson to life in general, and more importantly to our Eeman/Islam and what motivates us to our good deeds and our daily activities...
but that was a graphic story...
