TL;DR : The only way to be completely true to yourself is to stay in your cave and cry at night
For one thing, I know that being completely and relentlessly true to yourself won't bring happiness, because everyone's got to pour some water in their wine if we are to live as a society. How do you think it happened that so many different styles, musical genres and ways of thoughts emerged in recent decades? Maybe the internet has a say in it, but it all starts when a community gets more loosely connected, when you spend more time online than with your real life friends. There is no way to truly fit in without giving up some of your individuality.
Moreso, once I know being myself won't help, I gotta decide whom I'll get to be. Here's a fact : Hollywood and the medias' got it all wrapped up for ya. It won't automatically make you happy to be rich and have influence over those who surround you. What will make you happy is the admiration, love and friendship that will spawn from these. When you start dressing and acting like a guy from the movies, they'll treat you like one. Choose carefully :)
Don't you know the happiness of finding a family you belong in? Haven't you ever felt like you were at the core of your IRL gang or group, with a say in every matter?
There you can get people to do with you things that you like. My personal favourites are snowboarding, urban climbing and online vidya games. During vacations, that's all that we do.
ALSO : This ain't the right thread, but I'm getting plugged on Ritalin :D any thoughts?
