Ino, rite?
We're doomed.

I think activity is decreasing because we are falling behind in terms of usability and reliability. The program we use can hardly open a script without throwing an error, and reflection has been down for ages because we have nearly no people active here who know how/can be bothered to fix. The scripts and scripting ability here are as good as ever, some would say better than ever, but because updates which break us take forever to fix due to the closed-source of our key tools people lose interest quick - recent examples being runetek 5 breaking reflection and the uptext update. Especially when they can just go over to another leecher-friendly java community with almost instant updates and be up and autoing on their main in minutes.
When everything works the scripts here are as good as if not better than scripts at java communities (especially when we have reflection working, we can do almost everything they can) but because it takes months for us to update, where it takes them hours or days, theres next to no incentive to participate here other than for the challenge and fun. Which immediately cuts out alot of the runescape autoing community
The Claw, you hit the spot. So how do we solve our problems attracting and keeping more members? Get more people to learn how to fix reflection so we can use scripts faster after an update? I've got some spare time, if anyone who knows how to fix it would care to explain, I'd be happy to learn and pass on the knowledge..;)
Widget posted something about stealing hooks from RSBOT here. I don't think the people in RSBOT would mind...much :p

:)
Yall are making me want to switch to RSBots... :P
Seriously, the first reason I went here is because while I'm perfectly fine with being a leecher, I hate the leecher culture as it is on sythe and whatelse. About sites like RSBots and Nexus, I don't want to pay a cent.
If you want to increase activity, stop complaining about it. Make a script, run other peoples scripts, create a reason to script. Rather than ask what others could do, think what you could do.
Back on topic, ultimately SRL Members isn't special, nor should it be. It means near nothing and gives you access to only a bit more. Really being too easy or too hard to get into SRL Members shouldn't affect anything since this is a community based around scripting and very few resources for learning scripting aren't available to the common registered user.
I Disagree with Mixter -sorry, I <3 u :D-
I believe that being an SRL Member is a huge step in the Ranking process. Those who commit themselves and strive to learn anything about this deserves this Rank. It is a sign of On-going Dedication and Progress to those around you. I would only apply for SRL Membership after I learn as much as I can first, then make a very beautiful script (with as much effort, neatness, understanding) in it, as well as keeping a healthy friendship between all of my Family Members ( like u :D ).
Right now Im currently learning TPA Walking, I have plenty of people constantly helping me, such as Naum, Coh3n, Icefire... They all continue to help me understand these things, there the ones who make it easier for me. After I learn how to efficiently use TPA Walking(feel like im getting real close to it), ill start making scripts using TPA's and all sorts of things in them, just for fun, that will continue to reinforce the knowledge I was given.
After making a beautiful script, I plan on learning how to make/use Reflection, which I have no clue on what that is, I just want to learn it so I can help my family out :D, as you (SRL Members and Above) have helped me out.
The list goes on and on, I just want to strive for the best. Learning as much as I can. After I feel I have the Knowledge just like an SRL Member, ill feel comfortable to apply for SRL Membership :D
SRL Member's signify the strength of the Family. It has an Incredible Standing. While expressing your commitment and understand of Scripting, it Motivates you to overcome anything.
And for Learning: I believe the basics are taught Beautifully. After the basics, intermediates are very fun to learn, then Advanced tie everything together, and everything is available to learn >.>, Its amazing at the time and effort that a lot of our SRL Members and High ranks commit to teaching. It truly is amazing. Not only does learning teach me how to script, it motivates me to keep on going!
That may be your view, but it's wrong. Every single person has a different view on what SRL Members is - there is no one, right view, but the mesh of views that everyone who votes on a specific application. To some, SRL Members is an elitist group of the best scripters. To others, it's a sign of maturity - that you aren't just a run of the mill scripter, but one with manners, dignity and respectability. To others, it's a nudge in the right direction for eventual dev-ship as everyone should attain to that. To some, it's merely a level of accepting that someone has at least a decent level of maturity, some skill and at least some what contributes. As so many different people are involved, it often boils down to the last. Some people may get into Members because they are amazing scripters, but it's also just as likely some really helpful, but not too good scripters will get it, so ultimately SRL Members holds no value in pre-judging someone or assuming anything of anyone other than they have been here for long enough to qualify to be an average person at the least.
Ive tried to learn to script lol, I find it really difficult so I know ill never get into members, lol, Mind i dont really play rs anymore, have now gotten a bit of a life lol,,,,
And this is suppose to mean... what?
- UrbanDictionaryQuote:
1. lol
It's original definition was "Laughing out loud" (also written occasionally as "Lots of Laughs"), used as a brief acronym to denote great amusement in chat conversations.
Now, it is overused to the point where nobody laughs out loud when they say it. In fact, they probably don't even give a shit about what you just wrote. More accurately, the acronym "lol" should be redefined as "Lack of laughter."
Depending on the chatter, its definition may vary. The list of its meanings includes, but is not limited to:
1) "I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this conversation."
2) "I'm too lazy to read what you just wrote so I'm typing something useless in hopes that you'll think I'm still paying attention."
3) "Your statement lacks even the vaguest trace of humor but I'll pretend I'm amused."
4) "This is a pointless acronym I'm sticking in my sentence just because it's become so engraved into my mind that when chatting, I MUST use the meaningless sentence-filler 'lol.'"
Lol.
Pretty sure this thread is about me.. I only just started scripting and submitted my first script. Took about 4 hours. I was pretty surprised when I got a whole heap of yes' especially coz it was my first script. I haven't been active and have decided to become so, hence why I put the application in. I hope I'm not upsetting anyone as I don't want to join with ppl hatin. Hope You guys are all a great crew. Look forward to becoming friends with ya. :)
Sorry if I sounded like I was braggin I'm just enthusiastic and am a fast learner. I was readin tuts as I made it and am lookin forward to makin bigger n better things :)
All i was trying to get across is the fact scrpting is easier for some than it is for others, I find it really difficult, So i know that id never be able to create anything to get into members, wich is a shame as ive been a member for a while, Ive tested scripts, posted proggies, but i know there isnt anyway i could get into members to try out the other scripts
Well, I'd like to be a member but since Ruroken doesn't get his ass online we can't start working on our project. After all, we do need to share thoughts... Darns.
It's not about you.

The thread u pointed me 2 was from 8 months ago I just became a member and I had 50 posts. How do u know it wasn't about me... Ask ultra urself? I'm 99% sure it's about me.
Wow, if it was from 8 months ago then I doubt it would be him if Ultra just made this thread and jimmy just became a member. It probably was you jimmy. My bad :).
I honestly think that one of the reasons for lack of activity is lack of public scripts. I would also be willing to bet that scar lost over 50 people, easy, to uptext not working and thus many more scripts not working.
I became an SRL member with 7 posts. I believe that I applied with closer to 3. The strictness of applications fluctuates with the activity of the forums and the competitiveness of the time.
guess who got in 21 to 0 back when ppl were barely making it at 21 to 20?? :p
haha yeah, scripting is not everything, i mean 50 posts is barely enough for SRL junior member... So what if they are good at scripting, there are hundreds of good programmers out there that have never even heard of SRL. What we care about is that you are going to contribute to the community. i dont care how good of a scripter you are, 50 posts does not show that you are going to USE those skills to help out.
Edit: post count is not as important as QUALITY of posts, sorry about that
Not you.
At least from this(http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18205) you got in 27-0 :D
yeah that sounds more right :) i knew it was 20 something
thanks
but my main point here is that scripting skills are not everything. Attitude and contribution to the community are much more important.
